Ten years ago today I brought my 2003 silver & black Electra Glide Classic home.
In June 2002 I was riding my black 2000 Electra Glide Classic and decided I wanted one of those 2003 Anniversary models.
Being friends with the owner of the Harley shop made it easy to order one. I wanted a blue bike (boy, does that sound familiar) and Ken told me
there was going to be a color called "Gun Metal Pearl" Hmmmmm "Gun Metal", that should be a fairly dark blue color. So I placed the order.
The next month I was on vacation at Myrtle Beach and my phone rang. It was Ken, "Chip, I'm at the dealer show and I cancelled your gun metal pearl order, it's not dark blue enough for you so I place an order for a silver and black bike. I know you and your going to love it." Well, Ken was right.
On September 3 2002 I took delivery of my silver and black Classic.
That bike has been the mainstay of my riding. For those that know, I have been through a few bikes but the silver and black Classic has always been the standby.
It sits in the garage always ready, just waiting to go on that short trip or that long thousand mile trip. Now it's a little old school with the 95" motor (90/90), 5 speed transmission, no Ipod, skinny 130/150 tires, etc but it's always ready to go. The 03 is a keeper, part of the family. It's not going anywhere. I love that bike.
10 years ago today it came home. Hopefully 10/20 years from now I will still be able to ride it.

At 58K miles I figure this great bike still has another 58K miles to go.
It has been a blast and always ready to go!

Even as the least expensive bike I own, the 03 Classic has brought me some of my best memories.
Daytona many times, the beach at least 50 times, Hot Springs, all over the USA, it sits ready for the next trip.

I see JCZ reading this thread.
One of those memories I spoke of above was with him.
When he was here, me and him took a little trip through Charlotte.
JC on his 04 SEEG and me on the 03.
The problem was, we never went slower than 90, 90 mph though Charlotte.
 
But we were on a mission, and the mission was accomplished!
Just another great memory.

The Silver and black was a great color combo.  Yours looks great.

Oct 29, 2002 I rode my 2003 Fatboy home, Silver and Black.  Stayed that way for less then 1000 miles, and I saw the real fire limited paint set, 180/200 with the 100 year badge in the tank next to the number.  Rode it to Sturgis and Yellowstone, to Key West, to MI.  Lots of great memories on her.  92/99 hp/tq.  Have the original tins in boxes.

This past winter I had some rims made, and an air cleaner, rotors and pulley.  Had a Klockwerks front fender and rear painted by the guy who painted the set for HD.  She is a keeper.  I have a CVO Anniversary King coming to keep her company.

Chip, nice post.  It's pretty cool you have that connection with the '03.  That's what I like about the '00 SERG, too ...... back to basics.  I wish I'd have had it since new, though.  10 year-old one-owner bikes are definitely unusual.

I wasn't a big fan of the color combo when it was new, but it's grown on me and the silver is like nothing we've seen before ... or since.

Best wishes for another 58,000 miles and 10 years on what is a true Classic.

I always liked the 03 Silver and Black bikes.  It's pretty special to have any bike for 10 years since new.  Even more special to remember the exact date of purchase...

I'll be watching to see what the stable looks like in 2023!
