We lost a fellow rider last night. Robert Yates was a great crew chief then owner in NASCAR (#28). Rode his Harley constantly and loved his family. He will be remembered as the founder of the engine division of Roush-Yates Engines. He was a participant in many Kyle Petty Rides and just a good man. RIP Robert.

Robert was one of the good guys in racing. I know his son Doug had been running the engine building at Roush - Yates racing for a long time. The last time I saw Robert was back in the early 90's.
RIP Robert, gone but not forgotten.

I was fortunate enough to get a garage pass as they called it back in '96 for Daytona. Was a tourist, didn't know a soul and of course knew who Robert was. Happened to catch him with nothing going on, introduced myself and he talked to me for 15 minutes or so, that was like taking a drink out of a fire hose..damn.... Was like we'd known each other, awesome guy and one hell of an engine builder. He used to work for Holman Moody back in the day..now I know why they kicked ass and took names..RIP Robert>!
