Hello all.

I just had 2 new tires installed, rear had 2 nails (no pressure leaks), and was surprised at the cost.

Dealer had a 25% discount on tires and labor but the cost was still under $700.

All my warranties ran out last year on my 2015 CVO road glide ultra (had one set replaced under that).

Any way to lessen the costs in the future?

My last bike (2004) I purchased the tires and had the dealer install.

Yeah that’s crazy. I buy the tires online, many very large reputable companies out there, then have an local independent shop mount and install.

Not a bad idea but should confirm that the indi is willing to mount them and also that price added to the tires compared to buying from the indi. Why not support them if it is only 20 % more?
At my shop I raise my labor if I decide to install customer supplied parts.
 80 % of the time I prefer not to install customer supplied parts do to they want me to guarantee labor if the part fails or bad right out of the box.

I was the same way when I had a Chevron station.  With cust. supplied parts no labor warranty.  My suppliers would take care of me if I got a bad part.  You cna't stay in business working for free.

Needed tires on both my SEEG and RK.  I do my own wrenching - except for mounting tires so I just need the tires mounted and balanced (I pulled them off the bike).  SEEG is in NC and the closest dealer was an Indian dealer.  Got me right in and mounted and balanced both for $80.  Road King is home in Florida.  Closest is the local HD dealer.  Same scenario, wheels off the bike.  $175 to mount and balance.  Didn't use the chrome wheel weights I brought them and stuck on some crappy lead weights.  Tried to charge me for new valve stems ($20) until I looked at them and asked them if their new ones came with the "road grime" installed.......

That was my last trip to the local HD dealer.

I buy my tires online, jpcycles usually has the best prices every time I have needed them.  I bought a No Mar Tire Changer and do my own tires, along with all my buddies tires, it paid for itself a long time ago.
