2015 Streetglide cvi sound system
« on: January 15, 2023, 09:15:29 AM »

Looking into replacing the speakers in the CVO version and apparently thats not so easy since unless its Harley they need to cut the lids to fit which will then loose the water proofing plus get into the paint scheme on the lids.  Secondly I'm being told that perhaps Rockford Fossgate but in  looking at there website I don't see anything relating to specifically the CVO Harley system currently on the bike.  Anyone attempted this on the 2015 CVO's......?

Thanks

This should not of been moved to this part of the forum though its an electronic thing its a Harley problem on only the 2015 CVO and non support of the stereo system on this year and perhaps the 2016 CVO's Streetglides.   In the short term it be nice to solve this in the long term maybes it's time to move on to another brand.....

Cateye upgraded the system in His '15 SESG a while back. Maybe he'll see this and chime in.

I updated my sound system, amp and speakers, through Biketronics.

They have speakers,  via an adapter, that will fit in the saddle bag lids.  You do have to cut the baskets on the underside of the lid.

The speakers have a lifetime guarantee and I have had no issues with water leaks.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestion's the concern I might have with cutting into the saddle bag lids is the ghost flames across to top on my paint scheme.  I'll check it out though and I'm going to give Harley a call tomorrow and see what their response might be if any at all, probably won't answer the phone!

I a little confused, don't you already have speakers in your saddlebags?

Here is a photo of the what the lid looks like after I cut the basket off.  This is required due to the larger magnet of the biketronic speaker.

Biketronic supplies an adapter that mounts where the original speakers were that allows you to mount their speakers in the lid which are waterproof.  You reuse the original speaker grill covers.

Looking at the lid for the outside you cannot tell that the speakers have been changed.

Yes I do, but the fella I was talking and showing him my bike was telling me I'd need to cut into the lid itself/graphics perhaps he was unintentionally  in-correct. Looks like from you photo and description all the cutting is on the inside of the saddlebags.  Correct?   Thanks

Been taking the Boom Audio out and disassembling my 15 cvo waiting for the replacement set from Rockford fosgate system to show today. Knuckles are getting a bit scratched up do the take down and I expect I may end up with extra screws wondering where they go..... in the 15's the lowers have a radiator reservoir  built in so 4 speakers are the max the bike can hold.

Looks pretty straight forward. Good Luck and let me know how you like it?

The toughest part was finding someone to flash the system after complete, the local Harley dealer said they could do it via a phone conversation so I drove 35 miles in a 40 degree temps only to find out they didn't have the mechanism to complete it.  Luckily there was a speaker/radio store that carried Fockfordfosgate another 10 miles up the hwy...
Well so far so good it about blows ya out of the seat half way turned up and I'm afraid to go beyond.  Having the video of the install online helped immensely  if I had to do this via a written form I'd still be cussing out in the garage.
