Dererk,

I'm going home to North Pole, Alaska to spend time with my wonderful wife and kids. I just hope that there's no snow on the ground.

Welcome to the site.  I just redeployed 2 months ago myself and spent a fair amount of time flying around the DRV.  I ordered an 08 SERK last fall through my local AAFES dealer in Germany and picked it up on R&R in May.  Made for a nice break from the sand and dust of Balad.

Welcome.  Aim high theyre ridin camels.  Be safe.  The book says dont ride at constant speeds the first 500 miles.  I also did not exceed 3,500 rpm under 500 miles and not over 5,000 rpm to 1,000 miles.  After that ride it!

Welcome to the site!  Your new bike will definitely be something to look forward to after your deployment.

Hopefully, following your redeployment you will PCS to warmer climes so you can enjoy a longer riding season than what Fairbanks has to offer.

My son is with 1/40Cav ABN (Spartans) at Ft Richardson, was recently 'stop-lost', and will be deploying soon for his third tour.  During his last tour he was considering buying a Harley V-Rod thru AAFES, but the selection of bikes was sparse.  Instead, I told him to 'hold that thought', and after his unit returned last December, he took Christmas leave and found a 2008 105th Anniv V-Rod next to the Christmas tree with his name on it.  As a father of a soldier, words cannot describe the feeling during those rare opportunities when we can ride together.

You guys are 'chit-hot', the best of the best that this country has to offer, another "Greatest Generation" in the making.  Stay safe, come home to us, and enjoy your new bike.  You deserve it!
