Multiple start stops (including s couple of stalls) yesterday and the new starter parts are great.

Fairly quiet compared to what I had. Very solid sounding now too. Pinion jumps right in without grinding and the bike cranks over well.
I also had replaced my jack shaft and related parts as a precaution.

The real test will be on the 90-100 days after stopping for gas.

I would recommend the 10-84 conversion.

It will do you a fine job Duane.  HDBrad and 1711Tab got the same info from Rivera as I did.  Compufire also states to have the bevel away from the pinion.  The pinion is tapered/beveled and let's it go deep into the ringear on the flat side.  Rivera's instructions are poor and hard to get on the phone also.

Like I have said before, my starter sounds like a Honda cranking it is that smooth (hot/cold no difference).    :2vrolijk_21:

I wouldn't go that far, my riding buddy has a honda sabre and it just downright funny when starting  ;D

I'm very happy that I did the conversion too. Wasn't too big a job either, once the clutch was pulled off.

Stuart-
Anything sounds better than that god awful screech/grind sound.  Glad everyone is happy.
