Doc, I agree with what you said but... with no lowers I would negotiate a LOT harder. That alone would put me in the 12.5K range.

...OMG I didn't catch that one !!  No deal, those are really hard to find and something you need.  :smilie_daumenneg:. Now we are talking 10-12.5K.  Doc

I missed that also.  Definitely south of $12.5 without lowers.  Though they'd not be all that hard to replace.  All one color after all.  The part numbers to order new are still in the system (or at least they were a few months ago).  But I'd hit eBay for cores and just get them painted to match.  Be much cheaper.

Even if they only cost $1k apiece to replace, painted to match, you'd have to knock off $3.5 ~ $4K for the aggravation factor of having to replace them.

More.  Lots more.  Remember, have to get the fairing caps too.  And two screws and a nut.  And those support brackets.  Chit, the owner will be be paying someone to take the bike before long :huepfenlol2: !

I got my lowers on ebay for 250.00 + 59.00 for the caps. wasted $ on quick detach, and say, 450.00 for paint, oh, and 300.00 for glove boxes, waste of money.

...except in the winter or if you get cought in the rain. Between the fixed fairing and the lowers your legs stay dry and warm. The quick detach will not work on the 00 lowers and unfortunatley they have no vents for the warm weather. I imagine the soft lowers would work just as well, but haven't tried them.

I'm getting the feeling this may be a salvage bike, there is just too much stuff missing. Now we are down to 5-6K  :-\   Doc

:dankk2: Thanks to all of you I learned a lot. I spoke to the seller, explained my concerns and what I was willing to pay. The seller obviously has not visited this forum i.e. the deal is off. I was not willing to over pay for an incomplete bike.  :smilie_daumenneg: I am now very interested in a proper 2000/2001 SERG and will start looking for one that has not been disassembled and parted out.  :wall:  Hopefully it will not be like hitting a brick wall. Thanks again. You all saved me a lot of disappointment(and $). I will report back when I have good news. Mike

These show up with some regularity.  A little diligence should pay off in without too much delay.  I was only looking for eight years.  But I wasn't especially diligent (and I was a picky bitch).

Here's a relatively effective Craigslist search engine: http://search.restrainingbolt.com/
