Redline HD Shockproof
« on: June 18, 2009, 11:51:47 PM »

Wow, finally got my local parts store to get a case of this stuff.. Replaced the tranny fluid with it and all i can say is wow! Much easier to shift & I don't have that initial hard clunk going into 1st when bike is warming up.. I'm sold on the stuff now!

Thinking i'll get the MTL and do the primary as well...

The biggest thing I did to get rid of the "thunk" was adding a Hayden M6 adjuster...with the redline my SERK shifts like glass compared to what it used to.

Changed mine to Shockproof. Glad I did it because there is a marked difference...  But what about the smell of this stuff?  It was pointed out on another thread and now I seem sensitized to notice it whenever I come to a stop.  My buddys can't seem to smell it, so it must be all in my head?

Sulfur compounds used in extreme pressure lubricants smell either like rotten eggs or worse depending on additive concentration.
Sulfur cannot be used as an additive in multi-use oils that are used in the engine sump because sulfur gets contaminated by the combustion process and eventually changes into sulfuric acid.

I use Spectro Heavy Duty Platinum 6-speed Transmission Oil. It works great.

So if I run Redline HD shockproof in the Tranny, Redline MTL in the primary and keep the Amsoil 20-50 in the engine i'll be sulfur free??
