Storage? Help
« on: April 05, 2006, 10:12:09 AM »

I was thinking of ordering the chrome tool pouch to have some storage on my duece. Have any of you got this one? If so, how do you like it and could you post a picture of it installed? Any other suggestions for storage on 03 SED?
Thanks for the help.

Do they fit the Deuce?

I went with a fork bag way back when, it stores my clear glasses and an allen wrench for the seat...the rest of my tool kit consists of my cell phone...not the best pic (of the bag I mean  ;D):

Somewhere along the line, I saw a set of Tail Gunners installed on a SED and it looked damn good, if you need a little stoage area. I only put around the neighborhood, but if I had a need, those would be the choice for me, fwiw.

I thought those were the rump riders that the coach told they did not have to dress out in gym class and could go to marching band practice or home ed. class to learn how to sew.
What is a tail gunner? Thanks

I have the Tail Gunners on my 03' SED.  They are great!  They give perfrect storage for some tools, cell phone, a few other goodies.  I can even roll up a long sleeve t-shirt real tight and fit it in one.  It takes up one whole side, but it is nice to have that shirt at night sometimes.

With the Tail Gunners and the small bag attached to my risers, it is a good amount of storage for local riding.  I just got the Kurakyn roll bag that attaches to the back pillon without the need for a backrest and luggage rack also.  It goes on in about 5 seconds and is very tight!

Yeah, I had the dealer put them on in May of 05'.  Would have done it myself, but there is all of about 1/4" of space to work with between the fender strut and tire.

I got them on the Kuryakyn site.  They have them pre-drilled to fit the Deuce.

Skull, you are right, they look great. I like those much better than H-D's chrome tool boxes. Am going to get a pair on order today.

Big time thanks. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I bought mine on the Kury site.  Not sure why they still do not have them.  You can get them directly from the Tail gunner site.

Don't forget to post a picture once you get them on.

Hey Skull, once you get the gunner bracket installed, are the bags easily removable? Or are they perminent mount? Also, can you post some pic's of that roll bag you mentioned? Anything with them installed, would be great!

So much for Tail Gunners; they are out of business. I ordered mine from a dealer that gave me a better price than the Tail Gunners website, that dealer just e-mailed me they can't supply them due to they are gone. I tried to check this on Tail Gunners website but they are not responding to any e-mails and the phone is disconnected.  :'( So I guess I will go with the H D chrome tool box or the leather one.

Did anyone try J&P Cycles?  they had them in thier catalog also.  They may have some excess inventory.

I will post a picture of the Kuryakyn bag on my bike later tomorrow.

Well, I was able to track this Lor Izzard to a company called Jail House Choppers. I sent an email to a few contacts I was able to track down. Hopefully I'll get a response eventually.

Sorry for the delay, I have been swamped these days.   I know, I know, that is no excuse, get my priorities straight.

Anyway, here is a picture of the Kuryakyn Roll bag that I use on my back pillon without a backrest or luggage rack.

It two straps go around the rear signal lights, and the other two straps I attach to the leather handle support on the seat for the rear passenger.  It is very firm, no movement at all!

The bag is BLACK, not sure why they look blue in the picture.  I guess it is because they were taken with the camera on my phone.

You don't worry about it rubbing your paint?  Think it'd work on a V?

Nothing touches the paint.  It rests on the back seat pillon.  The straps even have about 1/2" clearance from the rear fender paint.

MJZ,

have you found anything you like for storage, yet?  I have a sportbike expandable pouch mounted on the rear pillion.  It used to be on the website before the hackers crashed it.  I'll try to remember to post the old pics or take new ones.

Afraid not, I have not found a thing I like as well as tail gunners but I have not been able to find any of them. I just keep checking ebay hoping to find a set of tail gunners. Until then, I will use my daughters Little Mermaid backpack and make a "real manly" statement. ;D ;D
