whining gear type noise

i have a 2007 ultra, when slowing down lets say to make a turn, i get a whining noise. it is only on decel. it is defininetly on left side of bike and is very pronounced.

It MAY be a compensator nut working loose over time.

Check your primary chain saids like it could be adjusted to tight.

IPB, Inner primary bearing. 
Replaced both my 07 SE Ultra one and my 06 Street Bob one.
Makes crazy sound while the bike is in Neutral then put the
bike in gear and it goes away.

The two most likely causes are listed above; primary chain auto tensioner, inner primary bearing.  The bearing was a major issue that Harley was aware of at the launch of the 2006 Dyna with the new style primary and trans, and they didn't see fit to redesign anything so the problem continued into the following model years on all Big Twins.  Not sure where the issue stands currently, but plenty of '07 models had the problem.

Installed the Baker bearing when the SE Comp Assembly went in at Jim's "hddude's" advice. Been good since.

i am going to change the fluid so first thing i'll check is the chain tension.

Just a thought, check the drive belt tension.  I've heard a whine when the belt needed tightening.   :nixweiss:

I had that problem as well.  Very expensive to fix!

My attorney said it is so expensive because it's worth it !!!
