Clutch fluid gone black
« on: April 27, 2012, 07:31:50 AM »

I noticed the clutch fluid is gone black after 700klms, looking in the spy window its completely black.
Is this normal or something wrong.
Do I need to replace the seals?

Yup, nothing to worry about, especially on a factory fill.  The seals in the master cylinder and actuator are lubricated during manufacture with a grease-like lubricant that eventually migrates to the hydraulic fluid.  There is also some transfer of material from the interior of the lines.  None of this is detrimental to the operation of the system.

If it bothers you, flush the fluid and install fresh.  It's probably a good idea to do that every two or three years anyway, just like with the brakes.
