Hey Bubba!
Did you notice any improvement or changes in the upgrade that would make it worthwhile to pursue?
I have the 2820, and my map is obsolete in some areas.....

OK...I'm confused...if you go to the link above to "order" the software, and follow the yellow brick road, the version it gives you to download is 6.11

WTF?

My computer at home says V8...I don't get this at all.

We should start a band!

I think that one is DEAD, though they're still around from time to time.

Cool....did you ever figure out the version of software you have on board, or what you're going to do?

I have Ver 6.11 on the unit.  I don't know what version the mapping software is.  I need to find some time when I'm not remodeling the kitchen to dig around in it.  (a little time to ride would be nice too!)

The only big difference in the ver 8 over the ver 6.xx software that I had is that I can tell that it has more Points of Interests. I also think that it removed some of the points of interested that I had way-pointed on my map. The roads I can't tell a whole lot of differences as Arkansas is still under construction of the new roads.  I think it probably takes about 3 years for it to get mapped.  I know that in KC there was a lot of construction a year or now maybe two years ago that was a whole lot of construction going on and I am curious to see if it as been updated in the ver 8.

The people at Garmin are GREAT to do business with, just give them a call and they will send you the ver 8 DVD free (you still have to un-lock it).  If this is your first up-grade they will give you the un-lock code for FREE, if its not it will cost you the 75.00 up-grade fee NOT the 150.00.  BE SURE TO TELL THEM ITS AN UP-GRADE.
