Ness Stage 1 filter issue w/ tear drop cover.
« on: September 30, 2006, 03:19:15 PM »

Just installed the Ness air filter kit and having issues with the tear drop cover hitting the bolt holding the back plate to the front head. Anyone have issues here?? I would like to keep the SE tear drop cover. If I add a 1/8" washer to the cover it holds it away, but the cover is not held firm to the filter rubber. Thoughts?? Thanks, Kurt

Thicker gasket between the filter & cover?  [smiley=nixweiss.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Kurt,

As SEULTRA suggested, a thicker gasket on the filter along with your 1/8" washer should do the trick.  Try some self-stick closed cell foam weatherstripping from a hardware store, approximately 5/16" to 3/8" wide and 1/4" thick.  You will need the harder version, not the easily compressed stuff.  Just stick the weatherstrip material to the existing gasket.
