Corbin Heated Dual Tour
« on: October 04, 2006, 02:24:55 PM »

Does anyone have a Corbin Dual tour seat with the heat?

What is your opinion? Is it worth the cost? I know they have a bit more padding , and have heard from that angle they are a little more comfortable. I have a gunslinger on my WG , looking at one for input on the upcoming bagger

Solely one butt's opinion.  But quite like it.

When I ordered already knew I wanted and like the Corbin saddle (lots of miles of experience with my ass in their saddles).  But had to convince myself to add the heating option.  Kept thinking "ah, you rode rigids, a heated seat is just too pansy assed even for you."  Finally decided that after the cost of the seat, backrests, tour pak pad, etc that the heat option wasn't enough difference to worry about.  So why kick yourself later for not doing something you should have done when you had the chance.

So, got the heated seat option.  Oh man, it's nice.  May not use it often.  But when you want it it is sweet.  Warm buns are the best.

Yep,take it from one who decided not to spend the extra $. There were quite a few times last winter I wished I had spent the extra $ and ordered the heat for my Corbin. :'( :'( :'(
I promise you will not regret it if you get it but you will if you don't.

That's a nice looking matched set when comparing with the tour pak backrest.  I had to bring the seat to the bike (so to speak) with some dark red welt cord around the edging than had the stock tour pak backrest recovered by them to match the seat.

I quite frankly wasn't terribly impressed with any of the alternative stitching patterns they offered.  I did sketch out and offer a couple but both were rejected as "too complex to sew with the seat heater."  While I don't profess to know precisely what that really means I knew it did at least mean they wouldn't do it.  That being so went with the old standard tuck and roll.  A classic and almost timeless look for a seat to reside under a classic and almost timeless ass.

Terry,
I have the Corbin seat for about 3000 miles now. Just now starting to conform to the shape of my a$$. The only thing I would tell you is that the seat sits a little higher and the neck a little wider than stock (I know this won't be too big a deal with your Legend Airride system though!)

Yea...I'm planning ahead  ;)  I've got a Corbin on the Ducati, and it's a little taller, but no Legends on it  :(  I don't think I'm going to be able to live without a Corbin on the Ultra now that they've come out with this one.  Maybe I can put my stock one on EBay and recoup some of the expense?  It's only four months old, so somebody will buy it, I think.

Thanks , the pics are cool.  I like my current Corbin although it did take a while to break in.  I'm planning on going with one like he makes for the Indians ( being 3 parts Native American it seems only right).  The Street Glides going to be themed that way , even putting the Cherokee symbol for "the Journey" on the tank . It will take awhile for it all to come together , but that is half the fun

attached a pic of what I'm shooting for

Gonna order me one of these seats, but no way to get it before MV. :( :'(

Terry, just getting back to this thread......haven't been spending a whole lot of time here lately.

In short, the stitching in the seat is necessary if you're going to have the heater.  In my opinion, if you have the heated jacket (keeps the body core warm) the seat heater isn't going to do a whole lot for you.  If you want a custom stitch pattern, they can do it.......I've saw some pretty elaborate patterns.  However, having said that, you'd be wise to be there at Corbin when they're drawing the stitch pattern out so that you can edit it before it's actually sewn.  Also, to inspect quality control before you accept it.  Living where you do, the factory in Florida would be closest for you.

Also, keep in mind that they have many, many different kinds of exotic leather as well as colors.  So they can do just about what ever you can imagine.  Being close to Corbin here in Northern Calif. we see many, many different styles of custom seats.

The stitching pattern in their web site photos isn't a bad pattern and probably pretty funcitonal (as fas as sitting on it goes).

All in all, having had a seat heater and a Gerbing heated jacket liner........I doubt I'll ever get a heated seat again.  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Re: Corbin Heated Dual Tour

Now after having a heated seat and grips. Personally I would not buy a seat for touring that did not have this option. I recently added the heated jacket liner to my equipment, and that may very well be the best money I've spent thus far. With temps in the low fifties last nigth, I was lowering my leather zipper to let the smoke out as we rode into small towns.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
