Group,
I was wondering if any of you new owners can share any information regarding the suspension, handling and ride quality compared to the EVO FXSTS. I'm presently riding a SERG but I have owned two Springers (89 and 96) and I'm thinking of purchasing one of these bikes.
Thanks,
Frank

I posted on this very subject recently, here is my old post:
Well, I love the bike. It feels very solid. I also have an '89 Springer, and believe it or not, it actually handles better than this one. I attribute this to various things. #1 The older bike has a skinnier rear wheel, well known to corner more smoothly. #2 The older bike has "buckhorn" handlebars

I had one (now mom has one)....
The bike was one of the most smooth bikes I rode for about 800 miles. The front is a bit heaver than my other non fairing harleys, but the bike is ever bit as agile as any other I had. The seat is actually comfortable, where my wife's dyna is a bit uncomfortable..
Great bike.......

Posters,
Thanks for your input I sat on a red one today. I'm disappointed with the color red actually the blue is sharper looking. My main problem is my 34 inch inseam. I had to change out the forward controls and seat on my 1996 to make it rideable. The dealer has another seat for the bike but no one has manufactured forward controls yet according to the Parts Department.

I have the blue and I find the bike to ride and handle great. I have no issues with it and I have owned a 96 Fat Boy, a 2006 Pitt Bull and a wide glide.. I agree with the forward controls needing to move forward some. If the handle bars had about 2 more inches of pull back I would be 100% satisfied.. but again the handleing and smoothness is as good as any..

Having ridden many Fat Boys, I fully agree that the new 07 Springer handles much better.

Doesn't look like you can attach pictures in this area; you will have to use your imagination with regard to the frame and footboard posted above :)

I respectfully disagree with the argument that the Springer delivers superior handling and ride. djkak
I have to respectfully disagree with your disagreement! ;) We're not talking about going dirt-biking with a springer and its ability to absorb so many inches of travel, we are talking about smooth pavement and natural handling on corners. I have owned springers and 16 inch Fatboys. The 16 inch Fatboys with a solid disc front look great, and that is why they sold so well. That is why I bought one years ago. Unfortunately, riding a 16 inch Fatboy is like riding a scooter: the front wheel does not have a stable feel to it. This is exactly why Harley has gone to the 17 inch front on the Fatboy, and why so many other manufacturers, including Ducati have moved back to the 17 inch front wheel from smaller diameters. I can not comment on the Heritage, but that is a laced front wheel and may have some centrifugal differences in handling.

On a side note, I did a little clearancing of my own to the frame of my RG while pounding hard along the Oregon coast. I didn

You should be able to attach pictures in this/any section as long as the meet the maximum size requirements. For best viewing the pic size should be 800X600. Also don't hit preview after you attach picture because you will then have to re-attach it. If you have any more problems let me know.

dOOd,
The attachment field and browse button do not appear for me in this section as it does in the others. Does it appear for you when you click reply?

Non-technically speaking, every Heritage/Fatboy I've ridden, handled worse than other models. They also seem to vibrate more. I went to York for open house when the "B" motors were introduced, to see if that helped and I'm telling you, my 4-speed Evo rides better than a brand new "B" Heritage. I've rented them on vacations as well. Maybe I'm only getting on bad ones, but I've never ridden one I liked. I'm not convinced that the FL front end belongs on a ST frame. No diss, JMHO, that's all. Hoist!

OK, I plead ignorance here. What exactly does the term "clearancing" mean?

The only time my bike is leaning over that far now is when I'm tipping it while Kathy sprays the bottom off for me.

Beerman,
That is a great picture of you and your scooter. I've resized it for you for better viewing here, also this picture would make a great avatar, and I've resized it for that if you're interested look here - personalized avatars (http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1133920167/349#349)

Sorry, the most exciting thing going for me right now is having one of my guitars custom painted into a Screaming Eagle Les Paul !!
and yes, I will be just a little afraid to play it too loud !!
I'll put pics up when I get it back
