DETACHABLE BAGS FOR SPRINGER
« on: March 18, 2007, 05:37:17 PM »

What are you Springer guys doing for road trips?  Are there saddle bags out there that are easy on and off without spoiling the no-bags look of the bike?  Thanks in advance for advice and photos if you've got 'em.

Hey Phaze,
I was hoping to see an answer from someone regarding bags for our Springer. I have had Harley techs check witht he headquarter and they have no recommendations and would probably require turn signal relocation as well. I have not found anything aftermarket either. My wife rides an 06 CVO VRod and cannot find any bags either. I guess they figure we will just ride our "other bikes" when bags are needed since we all know us CVOwners have more than one bike! I hope we get some response at some time.

I was trying to check this out for a friend.  He has since turned his interest toward a SERK.  The springer is a great looking bike, but what do you do when you want to go farther than a local watering hole?

Roger,

They also have VRod saddlebag kits and hard bags. Look here http://www.cyclevisions.com/CVBrochFwcrops.pdf Page 5 of the PDF file. Cheers!

I saw your post somewhere else with the info.  Since my guy has turned another direction, he's probably out of the saddle bag market for now, but I'll keep the info in mind.

Thanks!

Hey gang, here is some info on the bags:

I was sold and installed by the dealer the following Part#88238-07 bags  88256-07 docking hardware kit,69857 turn signal relocation kit Now this does fit BUT i am having them removed, they look like crap to me, the seit too high and sit off the side like 4 inches. So although these will function the looks are nasty, but thats my opinion, the bags are the 1200 cubic inch capacity, i am having the 800 size installed hopefully tomorrow, they however will not be detachable style, so when i am on a road trip i will have to install them. I hope this helps you guys.

Also the following detachable sissy bar does fit and looks good: #53810-00a sideplate, 51477-06 sissy bar upright medium low,51642-06 backrest pad,53932-03 docking kit

I like that BaggerTail kit they had on a Heritage Springer  :)  but I could not find the laydown license plate mount for the Tombstone taillight.  :nixweiss:

Funny you should say that - I may have one for sale if your interested.   It's not lay back but it's the only one HD made for the FLSTS.

Gentlemen,

I purchased the Kurakyn soft saddle bags. Can be used under seat or over.
Highly flexable useage.  Does not appear to have any contact with pipes.
Matches their sissy bar large bag.

My old Heritage Springer had basket weave leather bags which needed relocating kits for detachable sissy bar but I can't say about the need to move the indicators?

Fox Creek throw overs on a mustang wide seat works for me.The detachable sissy bar keeps them clear of paint ect.
