Was cleaning the bike off last night after riding to work.  There was a stretch of resurfacing going on and lots of pebbles all over the road.  I thought I kept a safe enough distance between me and the car in front, but apparently not:

A little to close for comfort to the $500 HID.  At least it was the spot which can be replaced easily enough and not the headlight or any painted parts.

I had a similar experience in my ford truck.  I contacted the paving company that was doing the resurfacing and complained about the quantity of rocks/debris that left on the road after they finished for the night.  They bought me a new windshield.  May be worth a try.

I contacted the State Patrol, dump truck owner changed the tune when they called me back, new windshield in my 911 GT3, $1,150.00.  Stater said he knew the operation well and stopped by in person to suggest they take another look at the claim.

Love it when a plan comes together.

Too bad about the light.   :'(   I'd pursue the idea about contacting the paving company.  You've got nothing to lose.

The way I try to look at these things is you can easily fix something like this even though it's pisses you off.   >:(
Be thankful it didn't hit you.  Facial features, teeth, eyes, etc. can't be bought at the parts store.

What a bummer Brian! :( As others have mentioned, better there than on the paint or body! I looked to see if I had my original spots I replaced but must have sold them on ebay...sorry bro! Holiness is good.....but not on a spot light! ;D See Ya, God Bless!

'Preciate the thought, John, but those are the halogen bulbs not the originals.  What stinks is I just replaced them when I put the HID headlight in last fall so they would match.  Oh well, it's only $$$. ;D

Brian,
I had seen this earlier and thought I'd replied, but evidently I hadn't. This sucks to have this happen, but on the bright/positive side (if there is one) seems your "Guardian Angel" was looking out for you. As you and others have stated, yea it sucks to have this happen, but look at all the other stuff that would have been more expensive and time consuming to repair/replace. Replacing the HID headlight, repairing/repainting any of the painted surfaces would have been way more expensive and time consuming and disappointing to say the least. Sometimes when you put things in perspective you can see the "silver lining" and unfortunately as this is I do see the silver lining.

I would also be willing to say since this happened on 6/15 my guess is that light has been replaced by now, and there is no sign of this dreadful misfortune.

Gary, I'm embarrassed and ashamed to report report to you and all my other OCD brothers that the busted light is still on the bike. :'(  No time last weekend to make it to the dealer for a replacement.  Going this weekend, though! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

You are a much stronger then I am. :o If there is any flaw or discrepancy on my bike every time I walk by it my eyes are drawn to it like stink on poop. I would not have been able to go this long w/o somehow making time to get by dealer. However I know it will be top on the priority list to get to dealer this weekend. ;D
