Title: Memorial weekend ride
Post by: Janine on May 27, 2008, 04:00:27 AM
The weather just wasn't that great for the whole weekend. We did get one good day, Sunday, and was able to ride.  Al wanted to visit his Dad's gravesite in Jonesport, ME. We rode Rt 1 up the coast to the cemetery in Jonesport. It was an awesome ride! I love the smell of spring...lilacs in bloom, fresh mowed laws, the sent of the forests, campfires from campsites, the ocean breeze. On the return trip we decided to go through Blacks Woods, Rt 182. This is a winding road with lots of S curves and not much for civilization. We stopped at a lake and enjoyed a fried chicken picnic that I had packed. While there, other motorcyclists stopped to chat. Not a long ride, about 250 miles, but an excellent one!

We all say it. It is not always about the destination or how many miles you pound down getting there.  It is about enjoying the trip to there.  So glad to hear about a wonderful weekend.  We have been really enjoying the smells of spring this year too.  Real sweet smells.
