That is a total bummer, I've also enjoyed much of Saranac's family of beers. Including their Christmas sampler cases. Sad moment in beer history!

That was the BEST!  You couldn't buy the beers from that sampler individually and they changed it slightly from season to season.  I talked with my buddy who lives nearby and he said the Saranac side of the operations is in pretty good shape.  The fire was mostly in the canning and bottling of their contract side and/or Matt's and Utica Club.  Last night was the kickoff night of their Thursday summer concert series.  The band was warming up when they were shut down by the fire marshal.  The entire neighborhood was evacuated.

Nige, also had a great ribeye steak on Friday night.  Negra Modelo as well Friday.....   Mmmmmmm......

Saturday Beer Tales

Assembled a lounge chair for the pool this afternoon - old lounge chair broken.  Pools are similar to Harleys in the maintenance dept. very often. Anyway, decided a beer or 2 or 3 or ? would be needed for the assembly - beer aides greatly in most of my assemblages, from past experience.  Anyway, reached in the back of the beer fridge for some Kona Longboard Lager my wife had purchased earlier this week.  Noticed the label looked different & then just as the cap popped off I noticed the word "wheat" on the label followed by.......  passion fruit!  GAAAAAAAA!  &   GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

So I sweetly said, honey, the Longboard Lager you bought this week - the one you called me about from the store - remember?  She says - Yes?  Well, its Kona passion fruit beer.  She says - That sounds good! She honestly thought it was Longboard Lager, but if you know wimmens, the story gets long & drawn out from here & basically, she got the wrong beer. Not that big a deal except now I have a bottle of it open......

So I drink a little & sure enough it tastes fruity.  GAAAAAAAA!  Not sure it tasted passion fruity, but it was damn fruity.  Manged to swill half a bottle then just gave up & told her to enjoy the other 5 brewskis with her friends.  Decided the antidote to this noxious mixture must be beyond reproach so settled on several Pilsner Urquells, which were very tasty indeed.

The pool chair has 2 cup/bottle holders, like the old pool chair.  May consider the floating ice chest since trips to the side of the pool for refills can be kinda tiring.....

Ahhhhhh, Pilsner Urquell.  Very tasty, indeed! :2vrolijk_21:  I'm headed back over to the Czech Republic on business in a couple of weeks.  We talked about doing a tour of the brewery this trip.  Hope we have time! :beerchug: :drink: :alcohol:

I am not familiar with the tour, but when / if you have lunch in the local area, all the beer is served in crystal glasses.  Not ole glass, no crystal.  It is so cool.
