I'm more concerned the other way...  No way we keep the house set to 70 - so I have to keep it cold somehow.  It gets pretty warm in NC during the winter even.

After reading about this here and getting the links I did some research and found some folks using refridges or freezers with modified thermostats to keep them warmer then normal.

Sean

Sean,

Florida too. At the present I use a deep freezer with an analog temperature control. I have a friend who uses a deep freezer that the compressor was bad on with a small 110 AC unit cut into the side and it works great. Thats what I'll do if I ever have any compressor issues.

Before I bought my wife an upright freezer I used the cardboard boxes my beer kit came in. I lined it with some old styrofoam I had laying around and would swap out frozen 20 ounce to 2 liter bottles to keep the temp in the mid 60's. I'll try and post a couple of pics below of the freezer now and the boxes then.

Freezer with a 5 gallon batch fermenting and two 3 gallon kegs with finished product.

Beautiful - exactly what I was looking for/wondering!

I roast my own coffee...I have a feeling I am going to be making my own beer here soon.

If you really want to get into it, get Charlie Papazian's book, The Complete Joy of Homebrewing. Great place to start, not a lot of BS that you don't need to get started, just the basic facts. Then as you go the Brewer's Companion by Randy Mosher, is a good book for when you start formulating your own recipes, Designing Great Beers by Ray Daniels is a pretty good. I wouldn't even bother with these last two books until you spend some time brewing from recipes you find in some from books, or on line clones.

Have watched this thread from afart for awhile now.  With a total lack of comprehension.  Beer is for drinking.  Why would you turn it in to work :-\ ?

Sometimes I sits and thinks.  Sometimes I just sits and drinks.  :huepfenlol2: :drink:

That's tempting.  Will have to find the October dates.  At least right now mid October is surprisingly unencumbered.

Oh my god.  I just defined heaven.  A perpetual keg, properly chilled, with a long straw that reached my chair :o .
