06 Road Glide 103" 253 chain cams,(the CVO package) had worked heads instead of SE heads ported heads 1.625 exhaust 1.940 intake valves V&H true dual headers White brothers E-series mufflers 12 plates each side SE super tuner 5 speed  keeping RPM at or under sweet spot 3K which is 70ish mph bike will produce 46.5 mpg 1 or 2 up and pulling Bushtec at 250-280 lbs it will produce 35 to 42 mpg and for us that is affordable vacation travel, 3K mile trip for a total gas bill of $349.41 and the bike never moved w/o the trailer attached.
Our 02 heritage stock motor with carb has always been 43 mpg and at 42K miles still is.
Our other 06 Road glide is stock with SERT Kerkers with stock headers and does 44mpg as a commuter on the highway 70-80 mph 1 up.

With the recent increases in fuel costs, commuting / vacation travel on a scooter has added that benefit.......what's not to like about adding to our passion?  har!  spyder

I have had the new heads etc put on my 2007 Ultra.  While these were being replaced I had new cams and high compression pistons installed.  Dyno results indicated 103 hp and 112 foot lbs torque.  My gas milages is about 40 mpg at 75 to 80 and around 43 other speeds.

Depends on how I twist the throttle.  WFO............about 20 MPG.  Sensible, around 40 MPG.  Then again, who cares?  If you're a member of this Great Site, it don't matter, anyhow.  There endeth the lesson.  Later--HUBBARD

Been getting 37-40 mpg riding back roads at 60 or less and autobahn riding where I set the cruise a hair under 80 and occasionally find myself 90+ when passing-riding solo on a stock 2008 SERK.

37 mpg riding 2 up last weekend on the autobahn at 80 with a short stretch of WOT to let the wife know what 100+ felt like.

Did they get around to regulating the speed on the autobahn ?  Doc

My 07 Road Glide LD has a Stage IV 103" motor. (all Screamin Eagle parts)  I weigh over 300lbs. With the King Tour-pak on the back riding solo, I get 33 mpg around town and 37 highway

I'm getting about 32 to 35 mpg around town. Out on the highway I'm getting about 42 mpg whether I"m pulling the Bushtec or not. I keep the rpm at about 3k rpm during cruising.  Over 80 mph......forget it, mileage sucks.

Every now and then you'll find a 120 km/h zone and the usual speed zones around construction, but everywhere else is still as fast as you want to go.

I watched a program on this on Discovery Channel. Traffic conjestion has all but ruined the Autobahn. Very few places you can get much above 55 let alone 100. True, there's no speed limit, but it was built back in Hitler's day and is mostly two lanes in each direction. With all the on/off ramps, it's simply not possible to drive or ride WFO

Depends on where you go.  A3 between Frankfurt and Wuerzburg is always bad due to the never ending construction and the insane amount of traffic every morning.  A6 between Ansbach and Nürnberg is always bad on Fridays, usually a 10 mile long stretch of solid traffic.  A9 from Nürnberg to Munich has a few good long stretches that have 3 lanes each direction where you can spend a little time in the left lane WOT before you have a VW, BMW, or Audi station wagon that appears out of no where, passes you, and disappears off in the distance.  After 3 years here, it still surprises me when I'm cruising at 80-85 and I have someone pass me like I'm standing still.

The are 4 reasons I love driving/riding on the autobahns here.

1. You are required to yield to faster traffic behind you
2. you can only be in the left lane if you are passing
3. by law, trucks are not allowed on the autobahn on Sundays
4. it's illegal to pass on the right.

Usually the left lane is open to pass and people actually use their blinkers to pass.  Once I set my cruise at 80, I can usually leave it there while riding in the right lane and pulling into the left lane to pass.  Took a 200 mile autobahn ride today and only once did I hit traffic that brought me to a stop for 30 sec or so and did the stop and go thing for 5 min.  Other than that, I spend most of the day riding 70-80 mph.
