To All-
Yesterday, on the phone I talked to Dana a MoCo representative who told me that there were 300 candy blue flame models made.  She also said that 621 emerald green flame models were made, which has been understood as the correct number.  So, which is it for the blue flames--64 or 300?  I've seen the letters from the MoCo posted online which say 64, but how could the rep I spoke to yesterday be wrong?  She looked up the records from her database as I spoke to her.  I don't know what to think anymore. To me it makes sense that 300 were made b/c since January, I've seen about 20 listed for sale. Seems like such a high number in such a short period of time for there to be only 64 of them out there. In that same time, I've seen between 40 - 45 greens for sale, which would be @ about 6-7% of the total 621.  It would make sense then that if there are 300 blues out there, then the 20 I've seen for sale would also be about 6-7% of 300 total.

Why does it make a difference?
A fine bike is still a fine bike whether 64 were made or 300.
If you own the bike to enjoy it then who cares.
If it's an investment your hoping to make big money on then Ha Ha Ha, not going to happen.
Enjoy the bike for what it is and don't worry about the rest.

SBB-
I'm not worried about it, which is why i chose the emerald green flame in the first place- because I wanted an FXR instead of a 96" Dyna. I preferred  that color better than the other 5 color options in the 1999 and 2000 models.  In addition, I liked the 19-inch front wheel, and the bike only had 1,600 miles on it and was in pristine condition.  It was the best available option at the time.  I didn't say anything about my bike being an investment.  As a mater of fact, I don't view my bike as an investment to make money but rather an investment in my fun and recreation time.  I enjoy riding my bike and look forward to riding for tens of thousands of miles in the future. It makes a difference because it affects the credibility of this site for one, and two, this thread seems to be one of the most popular on the site as evidenced by the 18 pages of posts and number of people viewing it.  So, I'm just saying there's a chance that people are being are being misinformed.  I'm simply trying to examine how that occurred. Did someone intentionally start a rumor to, as you imply, "make big money on it" for re-sale purposes or is the Moco at fault because it is supplying wrong info? Also, I'm interested in the history of the FXR, including its production numbers among other things, and I would just like to know what is the correct number?

huh???   ???

How does posting what Harley Davidson has stated multiple times on Harley Davidson letterhead effect the credibility of this site?

Does your posting what a Harley Davidson verbally stated to you over the phone effect the credibility of this site, if it turns out you were misinformed over the phone?

I don't know or personally care how many 1999 CVO Blue Flame FXR's were manufactured.

But I do know a question of numbers does not effect the credibility of CVOHarley.com.

james u bring up an interesting point. the numbers on the hd cvo history web site state 900 units produced. if 621 were green then what is the real number for the blue ones.glad u enjoy the heck out of your bike.

What do we have here?
Letters written on the MoCo letterhead and a MoCo employee giving conflicting numbers over the phone.
If there's credibility to be questioned then I'd say it's from the Dana MoCo girl.
Easy way to resolve it would be to call her back and ask her to put her statement in writing.
Talk is cheap, see if she will back it up in writing.
If she does, we have a discussion, if not it's just verbal BS.
Please let us know the outcome.

But as I said, 64 or 300 it's still a fine bike.
