2007/2008 110CI recall info - do I understand this correctly?
« on: November 16, 2010, 07:58:34 PM »

Newbie here that is trying to understand the 0905/0906 recalls/enhancements.  I searched/read alot here and on other forums that the 110CI engines could have "enhancements" done by HD.  I just want to confirm the particulars for these recalls so I don't purchase a scooter that didn't have the updates done and have a looming big-$$$ service bill.

- Is it true they have to be done within 2 years of original sales date for the updates to be covered/done free by HD?

- Or if I purchase a used CVO-Ultra will Harley still do the updates for free after the original two-year warranty has expired?

- Anyway to visually inspect a bike and see that updates have been done already (ACRs, etc)?

Looking at 2007/2008 CVO Ultras.  Doubt if I can afford a 2009+ version, but I've read the enhancements were already done prior to those being originally sold...is that correct?

Thanks (in advance) for any info,
Dan

I don't remember all of this but 0905 included certain models, one being SEUC. It included head gaskets, new ACR's, and Heads. I opted to keep my heads as I paid to have them worked over by Baisley HP. I thought you had two years after they announced the "campaign". A dealer should be able to run the Vin number for you.

Not sure how you could possibly verify the update visually, but any dealer should be able to put the VIN in his computer to determine if the bike was included in the program, and if the program was performed.  Copies of each of the service bulletins attached.  And they indicate a two year limit from the date the bulletin was published, but that may have changed.  Try calling H-D customer service for the definitive answer.

I'm not positive, but i believe that the newer head gaskets were composite and did not have the tab with the rivet sticking out as  on the OE multi layer gaskets.  They would be visible on the "bad" style gaskets.
