Help? 110 upgrades
« on: November 17, 2010, 10:40:00 AM »

Bought a 2010 cvose-5 and want to get at least 100 hp.  Have pc5, v&h dresser duals with hi output slip ons.  Dyno'd at only 83hp. Dealer says need to put high compression pistons and new cams?  any suggestions on if this will reach 110 hp or should i try something else?

You'll need headwork, cams and probably a different exhaust if you want to break 110hp. You don't necessarily need different pistons unless your headwork requires them. You may or may not need a larger a throttlebody/injectors, which will be dependent on what headwork you get done.

I don't believe I've seen a 2010 110ci engine that has achieved greater than 110hp from just cams and exhaust.

Thanks for the info!  Not mechanically savy so appreciate all the help i can get.  Dont want the dealer taking me down the empty wallet path.  What would you recommend for exhaust? Just put this exhaust on and dealer said it was good?  Also said high compression pistons and cams would put me over 100hp?

I think you should be able to break 100hp with cams, pistons and your new dual exhaust. In fact, you can probably break 100hp with an upgrade to the Ventilator A/C and a cam upgrade without having to upgrade the pistons. I think you might be "fighting" against your investment in new pistons if you're planning to stay with the stock 100 heads.

Sweet, Thanks!  Any suggestions on the type of ventilator or cams to install?

There's only one "Ventilator" A/C and it's on the HD website http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448773008&default=none

Asking about cams can be a loaded question since it can be very dependent on riding style. My recommendation is to talk to Bob Woods, provide some info on the bike configuration, your riding style, your goal of exceeding 100hp and he'll certainly have a recommendation. http://www.woodcarbs.com/

Bob offers several cams that'll really bring it on.
We've used those cams here since the mid-90's, when he first arrived on the scene. :)

opiedave, This is just commentary on your desire to have 110HP, but I believe as a lot of much more knowledgeable people then myself have said on this site  that if you are going to up the power definitely strengthen up the bottom end. Welded crank, better bearings etc. It would be a shame if you put all that green into your top end and then blew out the bottom end. I have an 09SEUC with Fulsac stage one kit with 1.75 inch baffles and I am completely satisfied. I just came back from a 1500 mile trip with no issues, (except one time after start up one of my lifters started banging for about 15 seconds), good mileage and performance, that is with passenger and (you know women) at least 30 lbs of luggage, plus both saddle bags full. Just my two cents along with two beers. I wish you the best with your project. Keep us posted. CAHDBIKER

Talk with 110 Mofo and a few other guys ...

Yuill YB14SEC-07 cams, Yuill true dual pipes, open air breather, tune, and 115 tq / 105 hp.   Mine was 116 tq / 104 hp used rinehart true duals.   no high compression and the bikes run Good.   Why tear into the motor if you dont have to (just a thought).

Went with rush ceramic true duals, fatshot slip ons, big sucker air, PC5, Woods cams and at 101hp and 115tq. If I did anything different would maybe go 2 into 1's

It was tuned on the 07 with a SERT as TTS was not out yet.   2nd time around it was TTS when they became available.

They were both made by Steve Cole just one was under the motherships name and the other under MasterTune.

I personally would not go with the Harley Super Tuner though no way no how.

Read on, there are many good builders on this site and will not stear you wrong.  Doc
