Flush gas cap
« on: February 26, 2011, 07:49:23 AM »

OK guys what is the trick with the flush gas cap, how far do you tighten it down so it will go flush? I know you have to turn it so it pops up but I have trouble putting it back on so it gos down flush. Being so smooth and slippery is there a trick to it?

I installed them myself on my 08FLHR and they never would go completely flush. The gas cap would always be a few mm off. The best fit was when I would chapstick on the o-ring...it would allow it to seat completely. On the factory installed ones on my 11FLHXSE2 I haven't had a problem at all. They seated flush each time. Try the chapstick or some kind of lube...in a pinch, I'd even spit on em to wet it just enough to allow it to seat completely. It's worth a try...
