Slipping Clutch

I need advise on aftermarket clutches. My 113 makes 123hp and 124tq and my dealer said the S.E. plates and heavy duty spring was all I nedded but they were wrong(SE catalog says good to 125/125). The cluch has only 2500 miles on it. It dosn't slip off the line but if I whack the gas anywhere over 3500rpm it slips and is getting worse. I would like to keep the hydraulic clutch if possible. Any ideas  Thanks

On my Road Glide with the JIMS 120; 134 TQ & 131 HP, I had a lot of clutch slippage.

Looked at both Barnett Scorpion and Rivera Pro Clutch, went with Rivera.

Hooks up great and no slippage.

That is exactly what I needed to hear someone that has a clutch that works. Do you have a hydraulic clutch?

Your situation sounds like a good candidate for one of the new VPC "variable pressure clutch" release plates.

I'm thinking I will have to do something also!

Leaning toward the Rivera but would like to know more about the "VPC".

Jerry anymore info you can get would help!

The VPC works great with the hydraulic clutch on CVO bikes.
Which VPC you need realy depends on engine configuration, primary ratio etc.. Especially the torque output until 3500 rpm.
Also it is very important to know which diaphragm spring is mounted now. There are approx. 5 different types.
Stock soft spring up to 2002, stock soft spring 2003-3005, stock soft spring 2006, SE heavy duty spring, spring mounted stock on CVO bikes. There is a little confusion if the SE spring is the same spring as the one mounted on CVO bikes.
As this is a SE forum most will have the SE/CVO spring.

Just an example: the VP83T with SE spring and stock primary ratio can handle approx. 125 ftlb at 3000 rpm.
But there is also the VP92T that can handle even more....

No I do not have a hydraulic clutch from my understanding the VPC will not work with the Hydraulic Clutch.

Get a hold of HIPPO (Frank) at HippoVPC@gmail.com. He is the expert in the US and if you can use one he will be the guy to tell you.

The Takamachi VPC will not fit Barnett or Rivera, at least a while back.

Rivera has their own version of VPC, also think Barnett does to.

I had VPC on my 95" and 103", also originally in my reworked JIMs 120 (134TQ & 131 HP) along with the SE Spring, clutch still slipped especially under loag, decided after various feed abck from members of this and other forums to go with the Rivera.

I tried attaching a reprint from Hot Ride Bike in regarda to installation and application.

Did not go through, it was to large.

GEEZER I still have the hydraulic setup in my bike and I have VPC and it works just fine.

Dawg,

A year or so ago when I was selling the VPC, (Canada), HIPPO (US). I placed an ad in the Buying Section, and I forgot who, stated that since the CVOs had hydraulic clutches, the VPCwould not work, any way I did not persue any further.

Everyone VPC up here are all in non CVO Bikes.
