The ti(p)s are actually black. The anodizing on the aluminum tends to take on a purplish hue after awhile. You can get replacements from BUB. You can also get chrome tips which I have on Elvis and I recommend [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

OK for those interested how about these?

Got my attention!
I saw a guy with a set of RH on his Glide Sunday...they were as purple as could be. That would not make me a happy camper.

Now that we've thoroughly screwed over this thread I'll say I don't think he's worried about the purpling that often happens to these exhaust tips. There was a thread here a few months back wherein someone was trying to arrange a group purchase of these exhaust tips available in custom ordered colors. I think he's looking for that thread. Anyone remember it or who the vendor was?

Here is the thread on the tips: http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1139113028/78#78
I don't think that it even took off though [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I thought it was stillborn too Jim. But that's the thread he was looking for. As the site gets bigger and bigger the search tool has gotten to be more and more of a craps shoot. Sometimes you shoot and you score and sometimes you just toss an air ball. I tossed an air ball doing a quick look for this one.

If you ride in cold enough weather without a jacket they will turn purple, at least until they thaw out!!! ;D ;D
-
A B/B Seeg owner has told me that he would gladly take all "purple" Rinehart end caps off our hands when we get tired of them as he feels they look good w/his B/B SEEG. "har" ;D
Seriously though, they all turn purple after a while. When they get too bad you either replace them or get the chrome ones. Would be nice if Bub/Rinehart would offer the "eagle beak" end caps like they have on their new mufflers.

Suckahs! [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] I knew some of you perverts would look! Thanks for the lead on the old thread, hd-dude. Looks like the idea died. Wonder if a little VHT glossy black would work? (or look like chit)

Send a set off and get them powder coated.
You reckon they could powder coat them and still have the script writing showing? And sense you know someone that has recently dealt with Sumax how much (ball park) would an endeavor like this cost? Can you see where this is going...... [smiley=pumpkin.gif]? ;D

Gary, I've done a few pieces of powder coating for the old cars over the years. The cost isn't that much for standard shapes without any oddities to them. There are two places local to me that both do nice jobs (they just don't mess with anything as involved as the fins of a Harley cylinder head).
I've even used the Eastwood "home kit" on a few pieces with a regular household oven and got surprising good results. From what I've seen before I don't think the name in the cap would be an insurmountable hurdle. Spray on the powder. With an awl or some other appropriate tool clean out the lettering. Bake the parts.
It might come out ugly as hell. I'd not be afraid to at least give it a shot though. Strictly for comparison I had a couple of small block Chevy rocker covers done at a place around here last spring. So the muffler ends would be a smaller surface area. The rocker covers cost me $75.00.

See the influence you have on me I'm starting to not want to leave anything in its stock configuration. [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Somewhere around here I have a package of transfer paper made to go through an inkjet printer. Don't remember ever trying it before. But am going to have to try printing the blue arrow fever picture off and transferring it to a t-shirt.
