Interesting Read on Heads
« on: August 18, 2007, 06:33:54 PM »

I found this to be an interesting article on what is wrong with the heads/cams on typical HD's, what causes the heat, etc. The article itself is about the sportster heads, but apply equally to TC's, EVO's.  It's about the guy who owns the shop listed below.

For those of you in the Northeast, or who do your own wrenching at this level, this place is supposed to be an awesome shop.  They also tune with the Direct Link system.

I have a friend who has heads done by Johnson's.  The difference was HUGE.  He's running an 88 on a 1999 RG,and has stump pulling torque way down low, really good gas mileage, and it runs VERY cool...   When I get all my pennies in one pile, it's the way I'll go with the 103"

Cool...you might want to touch base with Steve at GMR Performance as well....they do much the same thing and it's closer to you.

ooo ooo!  who is GMR? and where do I find them.  Randall had to wait through a 2-3 month turn around on his heads...

Cool...here is their website:  http://www.gmrperformance.com/

He is a member here under the name of his company...name is Steve.  Great guy.  Give him a call...he helped me understand some things in a 30 minute conversation that it would have taken hours of searching information.
