What is the Normal Referral Fee?
« on: May 21, 2010, 08:48:14 PM »

I was wondering what is the normal feel the dealers give customers who refer bike customers to purchase a new ride? A sweatshirt? $100 gift card? Nothing?

I would venture to guess it's up to the dealer as to what, if anything, that they would give.  I know of no dealers around where I live that give the referring person anything, other than a "thanks for sending the person to us to buy a bike."   :nixweiss:

My dealer used to give a hundred bucks. Been awhile so I don't know if they still do.

I bet you'd be doing good to get as much as t-shirt from them anymore. At least in a regular type of referral program. Maybe if you had a really good relationship with someone of authority at the dealership, and you discussed it in advance... might warrant a different story.

I don't have a lot of faith in dealers anymore. That's not my fault... theirs.

:zroflmao:  I refered a friend once to a anonymous dealer about a year after I bought my SEEG, who walked in the very next day and paid cash for a new 2006 SE Ultra. I had a card for $25 for a referral good up to 2 yr. Went in to use it and buy a t shirt with the money, and was told buy the GM " GOOD TRY BUT YOU DIDNT REFER HIM ANOTHER EMPLOYEE DID". I Didn't argue,  Ijust don't spend money there anymore. :2vrolijk_21:

One more example of upstanding stealership practices in the modern HD network of upscale clothing boutiques. :soapbox:

Surdyke H-D in Festus Mo. Gives 250 for a referral. They have signs posted up all over about it.
They have treated me VERY well.

I'd  rather tell the Sales Manager or G.M. I referred someone than ask for a dime, they wont forget it down the road..

Its NOT always about the money but most people don't understand that.
