diggity, welcome to CVO Harley.

I had the same issue with the backrest as you do. I slid the material up as far as I could and heated the metal up and added a few more degrees of bend to it. When I did this I wrapped a wet rag around the material as to not catch it on fire ;). Since mine I've done two others for fellow riders. :2vrolijk_21:

Seems everyone almost always replaces the seat and thus the backrest.  Good luck on your choices.   :bananarock: :huepfenjump3: :cherry:
