Hello, new to the forum but I've owned my 2000 FSTRSEI since new. The question I have is: Is the port on the face of the stock stereo an aux port for an MP3 player?
-
My understanding is that it is BUT - there is always a but, the aux input was taken over when they added your cd changer so it does not work. Maybe some otheres will respnd as well, i have disconnected my cd changer and removed it from my 2001 but not sure if you can re activate the aux input.

Thanks for the reply. The 2000 models did not come with the cd player so maybe mine will work. I ordered an MP3 so I will try it when it comes in.

All you need to do is buy a small patch cord with two male ends to conect your MP3 to the jack on the radio :2vrolijk_21: It works great on my Triple Red :2vrolijk_21:

It will work. But the display will likely show CD rather than AUX.

...yup says CD, but works great. I don't remember if MP3's were around in 2000 but its nice that the jack is there. For years I just thought it was an output jack and never payed much attention to it. I can't imagine carrying around a portable CD player but I guess it was done by some folks. Doc

I use it along with the patch cord to play my Ipod. I just put the Ipod in the front fairing compartment and it works great.

That front fairing compartment does come in handy especially since the 12V outlet (cig lighter) is right below it. :2vrolijk_21: Doc

Where do you buy the patch cord to hook your iPod?
-
Any electronics store (Radio Shack etc.) will have them and they are not expensive. It is just like a headphone jack but the jack is on both ends of the wire. :2vrolijk_21:

Thanx, it's tough being an analog guy in a digital world. My wife is into all the apple productS, iPod,iPad, Mac book pro.....me, still at the old desktop. She has loaded several thousand songs to an iPod, so I think I will venture into the new century with some digital music!!!!!! :orange:

I'm the same way :-\ I started using my MP3 just this year after I couldn't figure out where to install an 8 Track player on my bike :nixweiss: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :drink:

Now I am going to go on to that new fangled deal called the world wide web, and look for a handle bar mount for the iPod....then I need to be real nice and have my wife make a playlist of road tunes for me. :orange:

Built up a nice riding playlist which I put on Random. All good! Had a white male to male patch cord untill last week when I found a black one. My kids have outgrown the old ipods. I take them over, load my Southern rock on one, Blues on another. Batteries are shot but the charge port is right there. Random is your friend because skipping a track is not an option. All the music is good 'cause you load it yourself, right?
