Part One:
OK, I learned the hard way with my Road King that you don't always have the luxury of a towel to put a removed saddlebag on...so after scratching the bottom of the bags, I was not going to make the same mistake.

i like the idea on the saddlebags, i'll do the same to my road king always worried about scratching them, when i take them off. as for the tool bag, my first thought is "tacky" but i cant see the whole picture, you have intentionally made it the foucus of the picture. do you have a pic that shows the pouch and the entire bike?

WFP, sick minds think alike ;)! I did the same thing on my SEEG but used the loop part (soft, fuzzy half) of a piece of black Velcro. For each bag I cut four pieces about one inch square and put one piece on each corner of the bag. If you're looking for them, you can see them on the right bag when the bike's on the jiffy stand because that bag is tilted upward, but the black color blends in well and isn't too noticeable.

Both look great, I have been caught without noght glasses at Sturgis before, I think it was 1994, leaving Sturgis to ride back to Custer for the night it was 39 in Hill City at 10:00 PM, by morning they had 4-5" of snow. Not fun with no eye protection at 39 degrees. Great idea on the clear feet.. Gonna do the same

Good Idea with the black velcro...I put eight of the feet on each bag since there were 16 in the package. I like backups and redundancy anyways...if one or two fall off without my knowledge, I should still have enough to keep the paint off the ground. Can't see them at all, I was on the garage floor taking the pic.

I like the idea of the feet on the saddle bags not so much for me but for the guys at the shop who alway just set the saddle bag on the shop floor. Thanks for the tip. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

is there any chance of that front pouch vibrating against the frame and wearing through the paint?

It could rub but if it looks like it will I could put some clear plastic on the frame right behind it....maybe move that stupid warning label that is currently below it :)
I thought about the riser above the headlight but the chrome would definately rub up there...

i mounted mine on the risers, instead of using leather straps i used those plastic locking cable ties, if the chrome does rub, it would be alot cheaper and eaiser to replace a riser than to repaint your frame....

Because of the Tach, it sits on the headlamp when mounted there...
may have to re-think the whole thing...now you have me worried about the painted frame!

I am not sure if I would call it tacky but it does take away a little from the great lines of the bike. I have that same issue, no place to carry anything. I have a tool bag sitting around that I have thought about using but haven

I guess I can see when the Deuce is a second (or third) bike in your stable, keeping the lines of the bike might be worth while--certainly maximizes the cool look of the bike. Certainly, that tool bag doesn't really violate the lines that much (To not violate at all, it would have to be triangular in shape to conform to the frame).
However, when the Deuce is your only bike (such as mine), I can certainly justify the addition of saddle bags, t-bags, sissy bars with luggage racks etc. when they work with how you ride the bike. The Victory motorcycles blend the sporty look with functionality. I've referred to those bikes as I have thought of saddle bags for my bike. Change the look--sure--from cool to distinguished!
Keep your bike pure until function becomes more important.

Alright, I admit, it looks better. I'm beginning to like how leather bags soften up the look on chromed out bikes. I was thinking about getting a fork bag as well. Wasn't really sure where to put it. Guess now I do! Honestly though, I have no clue what I'd put in it? Just kinda want to put some bags on the bike. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

the fork bag on my softail carries a disc brake lock, sunglass case cell phone and pager while i'm riding

WFP, good move on the relocation...looks great...when I had my 02' deuce (before I found out I couldn't pay for two after getting a SERK), my bag was on the risers as well...Instead of the saddlebags, I went with a luggage rack and t-bag.

OK, thanks for all your help...bag will stay on the risers...but I will still watch for any signs of rubbing.

Had the same challenge on my BigDog. Bike has great lines and lots of rake. Didn't want to ruin "the look", but needed to carry night glasses and disc lock so I bought a pouch like yours. Have had it on the risers for about a year with little to no visible marks on top of the headlight where it rides. However, did learn to keep my night glasses in a carry case after the disk lock did a number on the lenses...

Thanks...another thing that ruins lenses is fiberglass...those lower fairing pouches on our bikes will do it...cases need ther also.
I use el cheapo wrap glasses buying them by the dozen.

Is that a Harley fork bag? I like the look of it. I have been trying to find one that suits my liking but no luck so far.
I am in the same boat, need a place to put my phone and spare glasses, etc... That Jesse James talk of "if I can't fit it in my pockets, it gets left behind" is much better when there is a van following him everywhere with an entire tool assortment, change of clotes, food, etc.
I agree with most, if the Deuce is your only bike, you need to add some practicality to it.

Before putting the cover back on my bike yesterday, I noitced that my Windvest Windshield completely covers the area where this fork bag is mounted--no go for me.
