Road Zeppelin Seat
« on: August 05, 2010, 07:36:31 PM »

Okay, pulled the trigger and bought a RZ pillow look seat, just happened to find a used one in new condition. Brought it home put it on, and OMG it looks like a saddle off a horse sittin on my bike.If it rides anything like it looks, then I can deal with that, but wholly cow this thing is HUGE!!! I seen a thread on here where someone said it could double as a heat sheild. I agree with that statement. Going for an all day ride Saturday, Sooo will let ya know how it rides.

I hope it rides well, I have looked at them in the past and thought wow that would be sweet on a long ride, then I thought just like you what a monster so I never tried it.

Let us know how it goes or if it spreads your legs so far you can't touch the ground

I had one on my '03 Ultra.  Had it for 6 years.  I rode 950 miles in 1 day back from Sturgis on it.  Loved it.  Everywhere I went, people comments on how "big" it was.  It did look like a couch.  You will scuff some of the fuel tank and side covers with it though.  When I sold the bike, I took the Zeppelin off and buffed everything out and it looked fine.

I had one on my 05 Ultra. Great seat...but very big! I have a Corbin now. But the RZ was more comfy by far.

Chains----it does spread your legs a bit, and sits you up a bit.kinda of odd at first, but still flat footed when stopped, being 6'2" is good, folks shorter than this I can see it maybe being an issue. I'm still trying to adjust to this Recliner being on my CVO, it better ride great, or it is coming off. Wife and I ride 10m-12m from april to Oct, pretty steady every year, my stock seat was killing me, again we'll see...

My stock seat on my 06 has 60,000 plus butt miles on it and feels more like a chopper seat on long runs.  Going to have to do something, either new seat or rebuild this one with gel.  Enjoy your new seat.

I bought a Hammock seat this week for my SERG3.  Love it.  I liked the idea of the Zeppelin but it sure looked pricey.

Like I said, I had it on my '03 Ultra, but I would never put it on my '05 FLHTCSE2.  The look just isn't right.  Of course, that's just me.  Believe me, gel doesn't work.  The Pro-Pad is much better, although at 6'4" even that isn't as comfortable as I'd like because I don't sit in the saddle where most everyone else does.  My legs are too long.  Part of the problem is that Harley makes the cheapest seating.  They use plastic seat pans and cheap materials.  Other than maybe the Sundowner, they don't make anything I would buy.

I agree, I would not buy a seat from HD.  I am thinking Corbin Heated or something of that caliber.

Put a few hundred on the bike today just to test the horse saddle, I have to say, this has got to be the most comfortable seat I have put my @$$ in. The only draw back for me is, it just doesn't look right on a SE. But I have to be comfortable to enjoy riding. For shorter around town stuff, I'll just switch back to my stock.
