Thanks for the info guys. I ran my VIN thru the site and my bike is affected by the recall. I picked up my CUSE on 9/11/06 and have 2350 miles on it. Need to run up to the shop and check it out.
 Thanks again for the info.

The Bulletin is dated November 20, 2006. It addresses refining the ECM calibration to smooth the torque curve application in a manner that minimizes high shock loads to drive train components. It also improves fuel economy on some models. We  shall see. I am scheduled in on Wednesday morning.

My 2007 SERK needs it per the Harley.  I called my dealer and they know nothing about it.  Thanks for the bulletin.  Since I can get most anything out of my dealer,  what do you experst think is a better map.

The only mods I have is V&H slip big shot slip on exhaust,  it came with the SE air kit.

I.E. Touring 1800 Stage 1 EITMS 34425-07B/DT

or

Touring 1800 Stage 1 34432-07C/DT

What is EITMS?

Definitely not an expert here, but I don't think you'd want the Engine Idle Temperature Management System download unless you've already had it activated by the Dealer.

Thanks for the EITMS clarifacation.  But is there any downside to this?  Will it hurt to have it cooling and performance?

It's nice that they call it a "torque curve" campaign.  Since IF they called it a.... "re-flash that we finally got the EPA to approve ,so we can avoid the potential of more burned rear pistons " ....It might not be received as well.
Those "high shock loads" as in detonation ...as in hitting the top of the piston with a hammer...might lead to some dissatisfied customers...and possibly some bad press and increased warranty expense.     Just sayin.........

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much,  The pdf, as well as my dealer,  states that the new ECM flash is not available for the CVO's until mid to late december.  My bike runs great with the PCIII usb now,  so I am not too worried about it.  Thanks again for posting the pdf

I certainly hope that refining the torque curve and improving fuel economy is not a nice way of having the bike neutered. >:(

Had my Jester scheduled in this AM for the "Torque Curve Calibration". They ran my vin and said yep it needs it. Took it back into the shop and couldn't do it. The software for the CVO bikes has not been released yet. SM doesn't have a clue as to when it will be released.

Can anybody say, "Putting the cart before the horse". Hopefully this will not be a safety issue because if it is seems like they (MoCo) just set themselves up for some big time lawsuits.

My 07 Jester was also hit by recall. Dealer came and trailered bike back to shop then called and informed of no software. I told them to keep it till it is resolved, hell, can't ride smurfette anyway due to broken collar bone. They offered to keep it polished and put on accumulated parts purchased for free as salt air and humidity is death to chrome here. So far these guys are treating me right [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

Just picked mine up from the dealer this afternoon. I had them put the stage 1 air cleaner on it since they had it in to replace the saddlebag lid that had a run in it & they did the new download for it while it was there. What flash it was I have no idea, whether it was the one for the new air cleaner or the reacall flash I'm not sure but they didn't charge me for it which is cool because I would have had to pay for the air cleaner download otherwise. One of the techs told me that they were basicly the same download, but I find that hard to believe. All I know is it seems to be a little snappier at low speeds than it was and runs great so far. But only a little more time will tell.

Not sure if this applies to the CVO bikes, but doing a VIN Service Check at the H-D site yielded this for me today:

ATTENTION:

There are one or more open safety recalls or product improvement campaigns on your vehicle. The following list contains the campaign number and a brief description:

0903:   TORQUE SMOOTHING CALIBRATION

Just wondering if you know the difference between a recall and a product campaign... because the thread title is '2007 recall'...

Word of caution here.... Shop did a Dyno before the flash and then Dyno after the flash. Word is that the Torque and HP went slightly south! Just something I've been told by I believe a very good source. At least has been a very good source in the past.

I am taking a wait and see approach to this recall. Is H-D taking away some of the low end torque? I want to wait and hear the results from other CVO owners. [smiley=soapbox.gif]

Isn't this subject moot if ECM mods were done? Is there really anyone here with stock, uncorrected ECM's?

Had my flash done this morning with 3700 miles on a stock engine (so sorry to disappoint you Hoist).

I am taking a wait and see approach to this recall. Is H-D taking away some of the low end torque? I want to wait and hear the results from other CVO owners. [smiley=soapbox.gif]

It's not a recall. A dealer legally cannot sell a vehicle that has an open recall on it because it's normally a safety issue. This 'program' will never prevent a bike from being sold, and you do not have to have it done.
It's not a recall. It is an improved stock calibration. Stock calibrations have had improvements done to them since calibrations began, and dealers have always been advised to install the 'latest' stock cals in bikes whenever they see an earlier version in one.

If your bike has a SERT, the 'stock' calibration is no more, so the point is moot. But it's still not a recall.

Peace! (and happy holidays)

I'm really leaning towards getting the SERT or T-Max soon anyway once I feel warm and fuzzy about the one I choose. The reflash should be all moot once one of these boys are installed and loaded. As mentioned in my prior post, a dealer ran the dyno and found the the numbers went down on the torque and hp. By how much, I don't know.

All I want to do is to get the back jug cooled down so that this engine will last. Not expecting to change out muffs or a/cleaner. I don't race so I don't need the extra HP or torque. My goal is to get some serious miles on the bike and wear the damn thing out. Gotta get every dime of my $36k out of that scooter.(gave up on new truck to get this bike) Anyway, that's my two cents worth.

Hi UG,

If you wanna wear it out, wait for the TMAX & Auto Tune. If you can't wait till the new release, get the SERT too, and then find yourself a good dyno guy. MOCO will not let the techs mess with it unless they have a Dyno. (The problem still being finding someone who gives a S%$#).

What evva...
