Title: Suspension Upgrades
Post by: Backroads3 on January 08, 2022, 09:02:33 AM
I'm going to upgrade my front and rear suspension this winter and am looking at Ohlins, like to know what brand has giving others satisfaction. I have a 2010 FLXSE with 187,000 miles that has original front and rear. I mostly ride solo but take annual trips 2 up pulling a trailer so adjustability in the rear is important.

187,000 miles on any set of shocks is amazing. After that, probably anything would be an improvement. Both Progressive and Legend suspensions have proved excellent. He may very well be limited by supply chain issues.

Greg is right, your stock shocks wore out 100,000 miles ago. I’m running Ohlins on the rear and Legends on the front. Satisfied with both.

The two previously mentioned are good. Supershox are also a huge favorite among many and are very easy to adjust compared to the other two. Pro Action also gets great reviews.

X2 on Ohlins! Much better handling. Carol is great to work with. BR3 187,000 miles! That is badass!

I keep up with maintenance regularly which I feel is the key to longevity. I'll get busy ordering so I can hopefully get them before delivered and installed before spring, great point on the supply chain issues. Thanks for the replies!

I would get the 13" rear shocks rather than the stock 12" that came on your bike.  Thats what I did with my CVO King, 13" onlin on the rear and legends up front.  Rode much better.

Interested to see how you got on?
I've just gone Ohlins remote reservoir on the back and a week away from getting Ohlins / Big Bear on the front. I think most of the current shocks will do you well, I just love Ohlins, had them on my RK and now following through, but I think shocks are like religion, whats great for one bloke, is no good for another...
