RDRS-Hold Control
« on: January 02, 2022, 08:55:04 PM »

I was stopped on a pretty good hill yesterday holding my brake when I remembered the hold control demo I watched months ago. Mine would not hold. I went home and looked at all the instructions. Apparently you only have to firmly hold your front or rear brake for it to engage, and a little H light comes on.  There is nothing about how steep the hill should be, etc...etc...
I went out to find a hill today, and again, I cant get mine to engage. It makes me wonder if my RDRS even works at all. I am going to have to get out in the rain and test the traction control.

You don't need a steep hill, it will engage even when on flat ground. All you do is squeeze the brake lever in real hard. You should feel a slight vibration in the lever when it engages. You do have to be in gear for it to engage.

Have it on my BMW GA and my car. Definitely takes a minute to get the hang of it but quick hard squeeze of the front brake (or pump the brake hard on my car) when stopped will engage. On the BMW when at a certain angle or above it automatically engages. Don't have it on my RG since its a 19 so not sure if the HD one works same

I have a 2020 with this and here is what I have found.  If I am already at a stop and pull or step on the lever hard it does not engage it, if I pull or step on it  hard as part of my initial stopping then it engages.  Not sure it thats how it is for everyone or not but thats how mine works.
