My intro
« on: March 17, 2010, 10:34:49 AM »

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking around here for a while, but never posted because...(story follows)

I rode in to my local dealer on my heavily "personalized" Fatbob the other day, (Moto Mure in Geneva Switzerland in case you were wondering) looking for something to do.  This is not uncommon I think, as there is always some lovely eye candy.  The dealer had told me that although it was already sold, a new Streetglide CVO had arrived, you know, just in case I was interested...

Interested I was, but not in the 2010 cvo streetglide.  Standing there, with her back to me, all I could see were her saddlebags...not too big, not too small, all covered in leather...I simply had to see more.

Drawn in by what could only be described as a sudden rise in temperature, I walked around her.
Ahh the chrome (something I've slowly been removing from my Fatbob) so well placed, so tastefully done...I noticed she had a tattoo...110...I assumed that could not be her weight, since she didn't look a kilo under 130...
Dealer swoops in
"One of our clients just bought an Ultra, and put this one up for sale."
"Can I try her?" I asked, "how do I know she's been well taken care of?"
"We've done all the work ourselves, and she is in perfect health." I trust them since they've taken special care of the LouBob, "Of course you can try her, just let me have them take her outside."

Sign a paper here, a few instructions there, and off I was, riding a CVO for the first time (cue in music) on a long desert highway, cool wind in my helmet...well you get the picture...UNTIL I changed the music...you see, the client in question had put some KessTeck exhaust on her, and at the press of a button...get your motor running, head out on the (same) highway (as above).

Anyway, a little turn around the block and I was sold...now how to contain my excitement...these dealers can sense these things...
"Back already? So how was it?"
Stay Cool Lou, Stay cool
"How much?"
"Well, I have 2 people interested at the moment. (Ah great..here we go) I was supposed to call them back today, but with the weather getting warm, it seems like everyone is getting ready for the summer."
"Stop the bull ish, How much!?"
"As you know, she's only here to be sold by the owner...but...this much."

2 phone calls,
1 confirmation by the dealer
1 trip to the bank
1 trip to the dealer (see trip to the bank)
1000 "is she ready yet"s later

And I am now the proud new owner of a 08 SERK4 (the blue one.)

I've purchased 7 motorcycles in my life...this is the first time that there was not even a doubt in the back of my mind while I was handing over the cash...even the fatbob left a little feeling in my gut (although the feeling goes away on delivery.) Not even a second look...

I'm happy :)

ANYWAY,

just wanted to say hi, and will be posting now that I'm in the right place :P

Although I refer to the SERK as a she, I really see her as a he, but the for the purposes of this story only, more fittingly, I needed him to be girly.

MY only issue, and from this forum I've found a possible solution, is that the saddlebags don't lock, but I've been in contact with Brent at InertiaWRK and he might have a solution for me.

See you around :) and thanks for reading

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the warm welcome :)

I've to busy riding with the nice weather we have here to check yesterday  :P

As far as the locks, everything I've read about these locks is that all you need to do to open the cases would be to hit the front of the bag and the latch will open.

I'm not sure, but I would like to have them at least semi secure, ie you really have to want to open them to open them.
I try to always keep a pair of rain pants on me just in case...I got caught in a bad downfall once and I vowed never to let it happen again if I can help it...there's nothing quite like sitting in your office in your underwear to teach you a lesson  :bananarock:

Hi Lou,

very nice intro  :2vrolijk_21:

welcome from the dark side of Germany  ;)

Just one thought about locks: I very rarely have anything in my saddlebags that could be worth a broken CVO-painted bag. So I always leave them open (allthough the FLHTCUSE4 has this nice central locking system) and carry those values (usually it's the laptop anyway) with me when I leave the bike in unobserved surroundings.

I know that's actually stupid as the insurance will only cover a theft with the locks broken - but I can't stand the idea to wait those 6 - 10 weeks it takes H-D to ship a new CVO-painted item ...
