Won't start after a week??
« on: September 17, 2006, 01:54:33 PM »

If I do not hook up a tender to my bike the battery goes low and will not crank her over. This will happen only after sitting a week. This bike sat for a long time and I think the battery has been damaged. Or maybe these need to be tendered if it sets for a while?? Anyone elso having this issue??? Thanks, kurt

Kurt, a week shouldn't do it in.  If the bike sat for a "long time" without a Tender on it, the battery is probably shot.  They never seem to completely recover from a full discharge.

They do not recover. It is probably a good idea to replace the battery and keep the new one on tender from start when not riding. From what I have read once the cell looses its charge in can not completely recover to its full capacity.

It is still under warranty. I assume the dealer has a way of testing it. If I ride it to the dealer, it may charge up enough to pass the test. Worth a try... Thanks, Kurt

The battery is a good bet, although the static current draw should be checked to make sure that it is within acceptable limits.
