Drag bars?
« on: April 24, 2014, 05:05:38 PM »

Anyone know of a set of drag bars for 08 springer?  Lot of modifications?  Risers?  Would like to change from stocks to drag bars, no major changes, just simple drag bar look.

Wild1 makes a set of bolt-on Chubby [1.25"] Pullback Drags for Springers (Part No W0565).  They run $300 but I got them as 'Blems' at a discount and honestly could not find any noticeable flaws.  See link on left side of their site for blem availability.

Anyway, these are truly bolt-on.  Remove stock bar and risers together, drop these bars on.  They should/may work without cable adjustments too, especially since CVOs run the hydraulic clutch.  Worst case you'll need to +2" or so on throttle/idle cables.  Quick pic of them on the bike is attached.  Need to point out in the pic I have a 3" tank lift installed.  Bars have far more clearance on flush mounted tanks.  But even with a lifted tank there are no issues with bar clearance on tank panel.

Google these and there are a lot of different pics available.

CVO'S Come internally wired as OEM. That's not a CVO in your attached picture.

Changing the bars is then a "dedicated follower of fashion " scenario and most DON'T do it !

Labour wise it's a LOT of grief , and COST if you're paying to have it done

You are right, that is an FXSTSI in the pic.  But these bars will fit an 08 CVO and they are also internally wired.  I did not want to enter into a debate of whether another owner should/should change elements of their CVO bike but instead was simply providing the information requested.

I DIY'd the install for the pictured bars and honestly did not find it to be that difficult although I concede it took some extra time and patience.  Sharing one technique to make it easier: an air compressor, some string, and maybe a small amount of silicone spray go a long way.
