What is Indian's policy on hitches?

Just wondering if Indian approves of pulling a trailer...without voiding the warranty?

skratch:
it looks like they leave it in a gray area.  at least hd tells you right up front that it is void.  indian uses those 'magic' phrases like 'unauthorized modifications', 'altered structurally', 'used not as designed' etc...

I'm reviewing the owner's manual and while there isn't anything specifically mentioned about a "trailer", there are a couple blurbs that could be used if'n they wanted to void warranties.  Speaking of accessories, the manual states:
"Do not install electrical accessories that exceed the capacity of the motorcycle's electrical system" which could include the lights for the trailer.  It goes on to state for modifications "Modifying the motorcycle by removing any equipment or by adding equipment not approved by the manufacturer may void your warranty"

Going down to the warranty stuff toward the back, it states pretty much the same thing.  I'm guessing most motorcycle manufactures don't approve pulling a trailer even though there are LOTS of motorcycle trailer manufactures... :nixweiss:

Last time I checked the only manufacture that allowed it was Can Am, if you bought their hitch and trailer. which is twice as heavy as a bushtec. late 17 I was looking at Indian before I got my RGU and I ask and was told it was a no go on warranty.

Can-Am....if I need three wheels to ride, it'll be because my knees have gotten bad enough, bad enough to not be able to golf either...so the need for a trailer to haul clubs is no longer a factor.

Y'day, saw an Ultra with at least 600 #s of rider/passenger stressing and straining every part of the poor motorcycle to it's very limit, running the twisties and climbing the hills on the way to Port Albernie at 33+ *c...but, that's OK as far as warranty goes?  It pisses me off that a  <200#(when loaded) Bushtec is not OK!!!
