Dress slacks melted on a black Rush exhaust slip on. Any idea how to remove?

I have always struggled with getting stuff like that off the pipes as well. I have will scrape and polish and most comes off but usually there is still a mark. Dress pants, yes I ride to work as well so I wear dress pants.

I recently had a buddy get a plastic Walmart bag stuck to his at speed. Had some luck running the bike until pipe was very hot then initially wiping with a old dry cotton diaper which removed 80% then about 10% of remainder using a damp diaper and QUICKLY wiping at the remains. Not 100% but most people wouldn't ever notice. Those black pipes are definitely harder to deal with than chrome, Acetone, brake parts cleaner and other products that would dissolve the plastic on chrome could stain the black.

Scrape off with a penny

I believe if you try to scrape it off with a penny, or anything else, it will scratch/mar the BLACK finish on his pipes. Actually a penny will make small micro scratches in chrome. But to each his own, if penny works for you, go for it.

The black finish will be a problem. Getting this sort of material off a chrome pipe is relatively easy via chemical means, but I have no idea what you can use on the black finish (or exactly what that black finish actually is). The first thing will be trying to determine exactly what that finish is, then finding something that will not damage the finish. You could try calling H-D customer service, there is always a slight chance of getting someone on the phone who either knows the answer or will take the time to get the answer for you.

also had a friend get a plastic bag stuckon head pipe. used Avon skin-so-soft. also WD40 works. the oil rehydrates the plastic(which is made of petroleum base)

I have seen the Purple Slice stuff demo where the guy melts plastic and micro fiber cloths and cleans em off with the Purple stuff.

The penny dated before 1980 after a few drops of 3 in 1 oil works for rust on gun barrels without removing the blue. I'm not sure how that would work on anodized parts though.
I can relate with the plastic. Had a big piece of shrink wrap hook on my kickstand riding to from Carmel to Big Sur on and rented Road Glide and it melted to the entire chrome muffler before I could get it off. Picked it off the best I could after it cooled down with no cleaning supplies on hand. What a mess!
