'14 CVO Limited - is tuner needed if?
« on: December 29, 2013, 06:48:33 AM »

When the wife says the scoot needs more sound, then the scoot needs more sound. :2vrolijk_21:
I plan on ordering a set of fullsac baffles(for the rumble) and then also coring out the cat (cut down on the heat).
If I do both will I need a tuner?
This is my first new Harley, and plan on keeping it for many years.  I do not however foresee making further mods.  I'm not really a power junkie, just more the cruiser type.
Thanks

YEP, and you will get many more posts on this. Did you buy an extended service contract? Might want to read the "fine" print and "exclusions".

A bone-stock bike will benefit from a tune.  Hell, you might even like it enough that you don't need to change anything else.  Get yourself a flash tuner (Powervision or TTS), that way you can return the bike to stock quickly and easily should you ever need to.

QWL - no extended service contract. Don't believe in them.    So no worries there.

So a tuner is needed if I do both mods....thanks.

Will get one ordered right away.

May want to consider one of Fulsac's header pipes. With the CVO discount it will only set you back about $400.00 and it would be much easier than trying to decat your factory pipe. From what I have seen it is almost impossible to get all the cat material out. He also handles the TTS tuner and provides you with a good base map. Sorta a one stop shop!

fulsac has the best deal, best price, best power, and they are decent to talk to and won't rip you off...

you can spend a lot more bus

you can get possibly better pipes - [lsr for instance]

but i have not yet seen advertised anywhere a actual better deal... maybe some folks just really want to spend more to brag how much they spent??? :nixweiss:

I tried the fulsak cores on my 2014 CVO RK and it did not do anything for me. Got a great deal on a Thunder Header set up with Falsee and tuned it and gotta tell you it sounds great. I was a little disappointed that a tuned 2014 CVO only came in at 89 HP and 110TQ but the bike does get up and go as you all know. As far as the extended warranty, Harley said if they do the work they will honor it but if you do it on your own you lose it. Until my 1 year is up I rather spend a few extra and have them do it.

Typical dealership BS to get you to pay them to do mods.  Unless they gave you that BS in writing and signed by an officer of the dealership (owner or other corporate officer), the promise isn't worth the air they expelled when they told you that.

The factory two year warranty is controlled by the factory, not the dealership.  The ESP is controlled by the ESP company, and once again not by the dealership.  So if they promise to cover stuff if you pay them to do the mods, and either Harley or the ESP folks say "no way Jose", it would be up to the dealership to pay for your repairs.  Verbal promises are useless in this situation.

I agree with the Fullsac setup got the dx pipe 2" cores and tts IMHO best bang for the buck. Not a computer guru by any means and with the map Steve sent and alittle reading all went smooth.
