REPLACEMENT THROTTLE BODIES
« on: November 17, 2006, 05:26:48 PM »

Just wondering how many people have changed or are planning on changing their throttle bodies?

I am currently running a ZIPPERS 54 mm. Before the engine displacement increase I was running as 50 mm from Zippers. With the stockl 103 and a SE air cleaner and a Thunder Header the bike spun 104.4 Tq and 103.4 Hp with a Thunder Max ECM.

Ney DOOD can we get a poll started.

Did Zipper's exchange the 50mm for the 54mm, bore the 50mm, or do you now have a spare?

HDFR,

In my case Zippers swapped my 50 for an updated 54mm throttle body.   I had one of the originals that accepted the old round air cleaner cover like the evo's do.  In my case it was a mukuni cover.

I also have a HorsePower Inc 53 mm throttle body this was on the 103 muscle kit by Zippers.   I used the 50mm on the 124" motor than I talked to Zippers about it and we decided to upgrade it to the latest 54mm and add the football cover so we could go stealth using the HD Police Emblem on the Roadking ..  it was a stock ring :)

This probably isn't the right thread to ask this question, but with the new rules the mods will move it or delete it as they see fit.

I read with envy sometimes the posts about building up motors here in the site. What I never see however is any discussion of the reliability of the finished products or gas mileage. I know, I know those are probably dumb ass questions to speed freaks, but to me those issues are huge. I would love to bump my new 96" motor up, but I have this mental picture of me looking for gas stations every 100 miles or of me broke down sittin beside the road praying my cell phone works when I'm in the middle of the desert. So if you speed guys don't feel I'm somehow insulting you, I'd really appreciate an honest answer to my questions about reliability and fuel mileage.

Thanks

If you're going to do a poll on throttle bodies, please include whether it's a siamesed runner design (like stock) or individual runners.  I can't help but think the individual runners would be the best bet, but would love to hear the pluses and minuses from folks who've actually made the change.

I have a spare with a chrome manifold. This was purchased for a build I was doing for baby brother. Dan did exchange the 50 on Punkin for the 54.
