Leather repair
« on: March 31, 2008, 01:18:00 PM »

Is there such a thing? I took my 08' CVO Road King in last week for exhaust, power commander, and K&N filter. After I picked it up I noticed two scrapes in my right side saddle bag. One is worse than the other.

Any recommendations to try and hide these a little better?

We juat used a "Doctor Vinyl" to fix a spot in the Tahoe. Looks great. If colorant will not fix your damage, see if you have something like it near you. Call a furniture store, they use this type of service a lot.

Man, that doctor vinyl is a name out of the past. I used that stuff on my 73 Trans AM over 30 years ago. You are right, the stuff worked great. Just didn't know it was still around. It worked good on actual rips as well. THE MUFFMAN

I kicked my leather bag with my foot and made a mark in my 08 SERK, I tried leather black and it really didn't do much for it, I did however go to Wal Mart and bought some Kiwi black leather dye in a bottle and put it on just around the scratch, let it dry for a second then buffed it and let sit overnight. You can't even see where it was. Just don't gob it on and let it dry you will have a bigger spot than you need showing. I have also used this on my seat for a mark I had, it works great. Just a tip for those who have had a problem with marks in black leather.

The leather dye works well if it's a deep scratch.  Doc Bailey's works well if it's a lighter scratch, though I've found it does need routine reapplication for the best appearance.
