Never had the desire to buy another piece of seldom used junk to hang on the wall in the garage, so I don't have one and haven't used one. I can forsee, however, some rocket scientist attaching a rope to one and having his large friend snatch it out from under the rear tire after the scientist gets the tire up to warp speed. One hell of a burnout for the YouTube set.
I would guess that it would work as described, but I wonder how much of a pita it is to get the bike on and off the thing. I personally like my solution, which is a center stand mounted to the bike that makes it a 5 second proposition to get the rear tire off the ground for maintenance and cleaning. The front tire is easy enough to rotate by hand without lifting it off the ground. Stand in front of the bike while it's on the center stand, reach down and grasp the wheel near the bottom front, lift up and the tire will slide as you rotate it to a new position. Takes one such rotation for me to clean the entire front wheel and tire.
