Rattling Headlight Trim Ring
« on: July 10, 2015, 08:07:09 AM »

2014 CVO Road King.  Have been noticing a rattle from the front. Thought it might be windscreen, removed still had the noise.  Trim ring on the headlight was tight per the attaching screw on the bottom, but the ring felt loose.  Removed the ring and found the two rubber stoppers glued to inside of ring had broken loose.  Tried Gorilla Glue, Crazy Glue but could not get the damn things to stay in place.  Finally installed a ring of weather stripping I got with my truck bed cover on the inside of the trim ring.  Rattle is gone and nice and snug, but the ring now sits about 1/8" off the housing instead of flush.

Anyone else have this?  Any other fix ideas?

Yup. Mine rattles, too. As you did, I checked the attaching screw and found it tight. But, I didn't remove the ring and investigate. At speed, I can't really hear the ring rattle over the chatter of the valve train!

Thanks for info - I'll look in to the rubber mounts this afternoon.
