SE 50mm throttle body/ manifold?
« on: January 27, 2006, 04:27:39 PM »

Hey fella's, just found this board and I am on my second CVO bike.  Was wondering if any of you have tried the SE 50mm T/B yet?  I have talked with a couple shops and they tell me that the bigger the intake, the more torque down low you lose.  He also said you are basically pushing your power up the rpm band.  Anybody have any input about this or possibly dyno results from one?

Yeah, 'er 'uh, Street Stalker,
Can't speak intelligently about that particular T/B, myself, as I run a Zipper's T/B.  ;)  But as hd-dude said, somebody here will!  Welcome to the Site!  Good lookin' Ride in your avatar!  [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] Later--HUBBARD

Second the opinion of BLM, only you have a choice I have both a Zippers and Horsepower Inc throttle bodies.   Neither have given me any cause of alarm / trouble.   The issue isnt that the size is the problem as BLM stated.   The problem is that the heads on the 103 that come stock do now flow the air they needed smaller amounts of air to get any velocity.   When you push more air to these heads they fall flat on their a$$ and its dramatic.   If your going down this path to get more it costs more than just a throttle body.   Your going to need either heads reworked / welded up to match HTCC heads or SE CNC HTCC heads and 10.5 to 1 pistons and compression releases.   This should yeild you around 110 / 110 conservatively provided you pick the right cam to marry this all together.   If you need more info's post here or send me a pm happy to help out.

I suspect your shop is explaining the POSSIBLE torque loss going to the 50mm with your bike if you are running stock heads and pistons.

The SE 50mm  TB will not even fit the stock 103 heads the inlet ports are too small, the SE 50mm TB was designed to match with the inlet ports on the 103+ & HTCC heads

Street,

I am hoping to have some decision very soon by Zippers on the cam.  I will say it runs great and has all the pep you need with a stock throttle body.   If your plan is to do heads / cam and more later than I would look into the Horsepower Inc 49, Zippers 50, or the Speeds 49mm throttle bodies.   The Speeds is based off of the HPI throttle body with some tweaking done by by Speed's"Wayne".   Watch the thread as soon as I have something I can share I will.

I thought I had heard that the 06 S.E's had the larger intakes?  Anyone know if that is true?  If so, then maybe the S.E 50mm I have will work...

FLSTFSE2 I read your link about the mods you made.  Have you had a chance to try it, how is the low end torque with your set-up, does it pull hard throughout the rpm band?

I have 98.6hp & 100ft/lb TQ with stage 1 air cleaner, V&H big shot staggered & a race tuner (untuned) just running a standard preprogramed map. But I would like to get 115Hp + with new heads (possibly 103+ heads), SE50mm TB , big geardrive cams & 10.5:1 pistons & then dyno tuned "tallyking" has similar setup with 119Hp

Cheers

That would be great if I could get into those ranges with just bolt on's.  My last bike an 04 S.E. Deuce with pipes, air cleaner and p-commander was pushing low 90's tq. and 77 hp. and my 06 103" feels about the same as that with the current mods.  I guess I should throw it on the dyno to see what it's doing and dial it in.  The map I am using is off my Deuce, so who knows.  Anyone had their CVO porting done at Bigboyz porting in Maine?
