Buell Info needed
« on: November 29, 2012, 12:59:39 AM »

Just a couple questions about Buells.

Of the modern models (those with fuel injection) is there a tuner that can be used? (like a SERT or TTS)
Is the 12 a better bike than a 9? (I know more displacement usually means more power but ???)
Is there a better year? Like maybe a 05 is better than an 03 or an 06 is better than a 08?
I have been looking around for a couple new toys and was wondering about maybe a pair of XB9SX or XB12SX.
Is there anything like a CVOHarley site like maybe a CVOBuell.com?
Just wondering? Yes I know they are not made anymore but how complicated can a Sporty motor be?

The early Buell's were very much sportster engine's. Laters are much different. My son has an 02 cyclone that is  very fun toy. I Don't know much at all about the later injected models. Motomichael has one I'll direct him to this thread.

2009 + would be the better year models for these bikes.  They got a new fuel management system starting these years along with the black frame, motor, and fork setup.  If you can find one, shoot for a 2009 model.  In 2010 year model they started adding O2 sensors to the bikes.

If I were you I would also look at the XB12Ss which is the "long" version of the xb bike.  When I was looking for one, the XB12Sg was too short and stubby and I could not get comfortable.  The XB12Ss model was just long enough to make it more comfortable to ride for extended periods and I am just 5' 11".  If you want to do some research try http://www.buellxb.com they have a lot of good technical info on the bikes.

Thanks Jim and BG!
I'm not looking for a tourer (have enough of those) but a fun around town bike.
The 09's and newer are a little pricey.
Was thinking more of a 04, 05 or 06.
