I'm going to really enjoy the VROD for it's intended purpose.

:D :D :D :D  Congratulations TCnBham, I know you will just love this bike.  I have lusted after the VRods since the very first brochure was available on them.  I used to have all the stats memorized.  Since I am not in sales, I have since let some of that info go, but I still love the look of them.  Maybe you can get your significant other to ride this beauty to MV next to you?  Just a thougtht.   :D  :D  :D  :D

Thanks Mrs.WeCVO...I too have looked at these bikes for the last couple of years, and had my eye on this one in particular for the last few weeks, as the first time I saw it I knew I was going to have one eventually...it just came a little sooner rather than later  ;) ;) Suzanne has expressed an interest in taking a riding course....she has never ridden a motorcycle though, so I would want to be certain she got some training by an outside source before I got involved with trying to teach her anything.  She sat on the bike and can touch the ground without any problems, and since it has a low center of gravity, it feels more comfortable to her.  She won't even attempt it on the Ultra 'cause I'd have to shoot her if she scratched it  ;D ;D ;D  We shall see...right now she just enjoys being the passenger...in her "THRONE" as she likes to refer to the back of the Ultra.  I'm putting a couple of things on this one so she can feel safe on the back of this rocket sled...I would like for her to know the feeling one gets when driving a scoot though, so we will work on that at her own pace and see if she can be comfortable. Thanks Dood/SpecialED...the Ducati will have to go....it's a great bike, and a blast to ride, but[highlight] it's going to get me hurt[/highlight].  Some younger man needs to get her and grind down the pegs, 'cause that's what it's made for!

If I could get both of them to MV, I would...but I'm riding, not trailering.

Congrats, I hear you on the duck.  I had a CBR1000F back in the early 90's and the same thing struck me.

Parked it on my dealership showroom and told everyone if I got near it to shoot me.  I drove that thing like I stole it but knew if I kept it up nothing good was going to come from it (other than miles of smiles).  I get those from my Harley's anyway so the over 100mph days are gone.

Well, mostly gone, I still hit it most everytime I ride, just not while doing corners on the footpegs.

Yeah, Roger...I hear you on that, bro...I looked down at the digital speedo the other day...5th gear, 110mph, and still had another gear left...made the decision then that it had to go or I was...it just LOVES to run, and it's so easy to just twist and let it eat.

The V will do that too, but the riding position and overall feel of the bike will just not tempt me to take sweepers at high rates of speed...the Duck will just lay over waaaaaaaaaay too far, and when the pavement is just a couple of inches from your kneecap, and you've still haven't gotten anywhere near the side wall...fun, but I'm 54 friggin' years old and want to enjoy my retirement...riding a HD!!!  Will probably see you next year!!

Yep, turn 57 on Saturday myself.

All the talk on the site of hitting deer and the like has given me a new appreciation for staying in an upright position.  I keep having flashbacks to when I face planted in a bed of oysters when I was a little toddler and somehow that is my impression of road rash.

It's those images that caused me to wear my helmet on the way to CC this year even in the non-helmet states.  I look like a dork(according to my wife but mostly because of the mic for the bluetooth), but now I'm old enough to not give a chit, safety and longevity outway the cool factor.  Besides, you don't has to luk kewl to bees kewl. Yeah, Roger....the way I look at that stuff is that I may not look all that sporty with a helmet on, but I'd a lot rather have my ears, nose, and other parts of my noggin' still attached when the helmet is off my head, and not leave meat on the pavement.  Besides, I couldn't keep my glasses on if my ears got ground off in a slide  ;D

Plus, the harm to eardrums from wind at 90 MPH is something else to consider....it's like being at a Led Zepplin concert on the front row  ;D ;D  Been there, done that...had the ringing in my ears for a day or so.  The helmet helps a bit with that as well.

Jackets are a different issue when it's extremely hot, but I have a rule for both me and Suzanne...I don't get on the bike without my riding boots, at least sturdy jeans, my deerskin gloves, and at least a 1/2 helmet....90% of the time it's a 3/4, and with the V it will probably be a full face most of the time.

To each their own, but when I see people riding with shorts and flip flops on, it makes me shudder.  But I see it all the time.... [smiley=nervous.gif]

I have that same deal you do with the gloves too, bad images of hands out for soft landing (which would never happen anyway).

Have a great day and ride safe [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

We'll be watching for the V Rod maiden voyage road report too.

Thanks Garz...yep, no doubt about it...full tilt boogie OCD, but man, it's going to be fun having two great bikes, for two different purposes, in complimentary colors (take notice Dood  ;D)...got the helmet to match the V, now just need the Scarlet leather Jacket from Fox Creek, and I'll be good to go!!  Dood's not the only one on here who can make a fashion statement with his riding gear!!

I'm picking her up Friday, so will let you know how she feels... [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
