backrest
« on: May 18, 2009, 06:12:28 PM »

I have long debated a backrest for my 07.  I was under the impression that my girl would have a bike by now, not so.  I am interested in a detachable backrest, do they make one for the SE?  Anyone have pictures of one?  On and off the bike? :smilie_daumenneg:

I put the rigid mounts on, but they have the detachable ones as well

I put the ridgid mount on with a mini. Just enough support for the rider and I like the low profile look. I can also bungie a day bag on the passenger seat without issue. I first wanted the detachable for saddle bags and there was issues with the shock covers. The bottom line .... the detahables did NOT work with the FXDSE 2007.

because of the detach not working for me either i opted for the haulen ass option.  i wanted something that would be easy to remove and small.

How do you like the Haulenass seat? I was thinking of one but I have never seen one up close any looks or quality issues?

i feel that it is well built.  the pad is oem and the match is perfect. the size is just right.  the bike still looks good and i avoided the side mounts for the harley bar.  i will say that if you think of leaning tremendous weight on the bar it's not going to withstand it.  it does flex easily if i push into it.  i still recommend it.  my wife is about 140lbs and doesn't complain about the bar, now it's the seat.  i'll never win.

I just put a detachable backrest on my '07.  I did the low one and added the luggage rack to the back so that I could carry something when my wife rode.  Here's a shot of it on.

I have a detachable backrest on my 07 FXDSE. I had no issues with the install.

I had the Dealer install the OEM Detachable Backrest & Saddle Bags.
They needed to do a relocate/replace of the License plate holder and the Turn Signal Mounts, but it works great.
Only have a Shot of the Bike with them in place.

I know that the question here is about the 07 model but, for the 08 model HD has a detachable available. I bought one because my wife said she would not ride with me without one. I keep it off most of the time. :huepfenlol2: The 08 detachable only comes in one size, the mid size. It looks good enough but it looks better without.

My wife will not ride unless she has a backrest, she will take naps while riding on the glide. I opted for the mid sissy detachable for the SE for more support for her. I will post pictures soon.......
